Kool Glide Carpet Iron VS.
Black And Decker Steam Iron
In this video I did a few tests comparing the Kool Glide carpet iron against the Black and Decker wallpaper steam iron doing a few seams.
I wanted to see the integrity of the seam comparing both tools and share it with you people on KZbin.
If you have any questions or comments share them in the comments below and thanks for watching!

I think its ok for small patches, but I've always used a seam iron. Thanks for the demonstration 👍 Me and my old school ways 😉

Thanks for this video comparison, so as a new carpet repair guy just starting out, would you say I don’t need to run out & buy a seamer down. I took a carpet repair class, also I bought Kool Glide & quite a few tools. Thanks for sharing your videos. 😊👍👍
@justsaygold
@justsaygold 3 жыл бұрын
Definitely, the seamer down now is primarily used when installing carpet so you can stretch the room in after doing seams and not have to wait for the seam to cool down. I almost never use it for repairs or stretching carpet. Only in rare situations when doing seam repairs. It's a wonderful tool but not a necessity when starting out. Hopefully that answers your question and you're welcome! Thank you for watching my videos and for your questions!

@@justsaygold thanks for your rapid response, so maybe I’ll invest in Seamer down later on, My class taught us about repair, we did few repair jobs in class, but we didn’t do any stretching. So thanks for your helpful videos, 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

U took carpet repair classes lol u cant be for real. U can do all these repairs with a regular carpet iron instead of spending thousand dollars to do carpet repairs roberts seam iron 170$.

Ya ill stick to the old school roberts iron that heats up. Also for repairs just use same iron.

Have you found a way not to burn the pad and still get a good bond with the kool glide?

So I managed to get a black and decker steamer. Should I not use this for patch repairs?
@justsaygold
@justsaygold 3 жыл бұрын
You can definitely still use the black and decker to do patch work. I have done hundreds of repairs with it, just be careful when working with cheaper carpet to make sure it doesn't delaminate. If it does delaminate you will have to use a glue gun to secure the patch after.

So do you think the seamer down now cools it to quickly 🤔
@justsaygold
@justsaygold 3 жыл бұрын
That's what I was thinking, I guess it's different from using the traditional iron. Worked much better without the seamer down now.

I usually try to use something like orcon k-40 but this roll I grabbed from Home Cheapo. I think it was orcon psx-4500.

You have to give it longer than 20 seconds. Even conventional tape will let loose at 20 seconds. Give it time to cool off and try it

Warning!Kool glides set off pacemakers.On a school job I was doing,they didn't want the smoke from a regular iron.The second I pushed the button on the Kool glide,a guy on a scaffold clutched his chest and fell off
