@opiyooloya38748 жыл бұрын
+Eugene Magina I did not read the look on Carlyto's face at 0.45 as anything but showmanship--he is having fun, and makes that face. It's a live show, and Carlyto plays it up for the audience. I don't know that we can read anything more into it.
@EugeneMagina8 жыл бұрын
Hahahha you need to know their relationship and the guitars too.. This two never went together on stage as also Le poet in latter years never performed with his boss on stage so if you are as keen, old and have had time to follow this group live then you will read what lies under

Many thanks Eugene, for the behind the scene information. I have followed OK Jazz for more than four decades and, thanks to the clarity of the lyrics, learned the language enough to understand the songs. One day, perhaps, in my gentle retirement, I will get the courage to write a book on this genius of African music. Every tidbit of information would be useful for such a huge project.

@markojwang48092 жыл бұрын
Thats very wrong, dynasties end due to mistake by the partriach. in this case it was death. !lutumba was franco's deputy ...remember? again lutumba was part of ok jazz till the end and even outcrops in later years. so how can one predict death of his own dynasty?
@mounbakko58712 жыл бұрын
@@markojwang4809 … ok fine… all what was meant in the comment is that, the band lost its direction , cohesion and productivity when the leader was no longer there to give it life and direction…. what is the disagreement about? He could have been the deputy, but the deputy feels the loss of the heart and soul of the organization and is probably expressing it in the song. That is all… c’est tout.. n’est pas?
@georgeodhiambo598 Жыл бұрын
The song is extremely soulful. Your comment is not making much sense. It is about a broken glass (and perhaps irreversibility of the process). A very soulful song. Franco was OK Jazz and OK Jazz was Franco.

@@georgeodhiambo598good to know what you think of this piece of the Franco OK Jazz effect ... the role of history in play as one listens to this track and the year of recording with a clear believe in a Luambo touch... the sound, the vigor, the guitar playing and instrumentation and arrangement... so prevalent in most of the OK Jazz recordings, was the basis of the opinion expressed and how these factors inluenced how the music was heard listening to the playback... not intended to be authoritative.
