It's the same reason why we all don't learn swedish. Very interesting video! I do have a question for you though: Why are degrees here declared in Fahrenheit and not Celsius (and/or Kelvin)? The vast majority of the planet uses the latter. An easy workaround would be to include both when it's necessary to bring up temperature.

Farenheit would make more sense since the freezing to boiling point is point is 100 compared to 180 in Celsius so maybe he didn't want an extra that would be useless for his point (-81) + the majority of things use farenheit and more people would understand how harsh the conditions are in mars.
