Hi Jackie, you are right - most physicians don't do the swabbing. Here is David's answer: "In my office, i usually ask my nurses to do strep throat and flu tests. Of course if they are busy, I do it on my own. In the case of Covid-19, many of my staff were super scared of this whole pandemic. I totally understand their viewpoint because they are moms, wives, and children of elderly parents who are immunocompromised. So, instead of risking their lives, I decided to risk my life. Of course my wife objected a lot, but eventually gave in, but she went out and bought a full out hazmat suit for me to protect my safety. Also, about lab techs doing tests - we use LabCorp which is one of the largest lab companies in the U.S. for doctors offices. LabCorp's current policy (at least in Georgia) is that they will not allow their techs to do covid-19 swabbing. In the beginning of the covid crisis, there was a major shortage of testing kits and so when my patients who were sick with possible covid-19 called the hospital or other testing centers most of them were told that they should not come for testing because they weren't sick enough. Some even showed up in the ER with respiratory symptoms and the ER doc refused to swab them and were sent home. I am a believer that wide spread testing helps flatten the curve faster so I wanted to help my patients and our community as a whole in battling the coronavirus crisis. That's why I made the decision to start testing in our office. BTW, these episodes are about 2 months behind so times have changed. There are a lot more testing kits available now in GA and some testing centers are now offering testing to even asymptomatic patients so I have stopped testing in our office parking lot and referring my patients to the drive through testing center near my office."
@Alice125784 жыл бұрын
It might be done differently in different places. In my country, it was doctors and dentists (volunteers) doing the swabbing. Now they are training laymen to cope with the demand and take over the role from medical professionals.

Actually he's at a age where he puts everything in his mouth but he never ever swallow them. I try to tell him to take it out whenever I can, but when I'm cooking or doing the dishes and he's around putting stuff in his mouth I don't catch it. But what's funny is Ezra passed that age, but with Levi doing that Ezra copies him, so now I'm running after the 2 boys telling them to spit it out all the time! Seth gets frustrated because he's trying to make legos and he will be missing a lego tire or a lego person and its usually in Ezra or Levi's mouth! So when I'm busy doing house chores now Seth runs after the two little brothers telling them to spit things out.

I can’t possibly imagine how hard Levi’s grieving period was for both of you, Esther and David❣️ But knowing other families who have been blessed with adopting internationally, Levi was VERY lucky to have been living with a foster Mother (and her family)!! So many orphans do not have that kind of love, attention and stability! I truly believe that it was because of her love, and the grace of God, that Levi was so on track with his development. It broke my heart when the foster Mommy kept saying over, and over, and over, again and AGAIN: “Please love him!” “Please promise me you will take good care of him!” 💔 I hope there was some way you could send a letter and pictures to her through the adoption agency?! Or maybe have the agency tell her about these videos? I know that Levi was her 11th foster child, so her saying that to you makes me wonder if she had bad experiences in the past? ❤❤❤

Absolutely awesome with the no TV! I live in the 🇺🇸, but my 3 granddaughters live in Germany with their parents. They are now 8 years, 6 years and 3 years. They don’t own a TV, the girls sometimes watch nature videos from KZbin on the computer but that is all. Of course Nana & Grandpa (us here in the🇺🇸) make sure to buy lots of blocks, Playmobil sets, books! Lots of books! And they spend a lot of time in nature. They are very fortunate because Germany is much more supportive of parents and families. After each baby is born BOTH parents are given 6 weeks of paid leave that they can take any time during the first year, and a midwife comes to the home for the first 10 days after baby is home. She checks babies weight, sees how feeding is going, just is a reassuring presence. And children are very seldom left home with a babysitter because restaurants are family friendly. The paid vacation time is very generous too, guaranteed minimum of 6 weeks per year. And yes, they pay a flat 35% tax on wages, but then everything in their life is covered! Health, dental, childcare, school. The idea that parents in the 🇺🇸 have to decide if they can afford to take their child to a doctor when they are sick is just plain confusing for them!❤

@mengaisha35994 жыл бұрын
Why would you bring up Huxley in regards to this family. You shouldn't do that because they have an individual story share. There life would nor have taken them Huxley. We meet the people that we are meant to meet. I don't think anyone as never thought that maybe it was the Stauffer job to bring Huxley to the United States so that he could be with his forever family. The possibility may have been slim for the new family to meet him since he waa in China and by him going through a failed adoption. It made it possible for him to meet the family that was perfect for his life. The Universe works that way sometime. I was in a foster home. My foster mother told me that I was a good and kind girl. It stuck with me more than 35 years. This was positive since I was always told that I was dumb, stupid and a lot more things that was completely crazy by my dad and his family. The foster asked my mother to adopt me. Of course that never happened but her words gave me strength. It was not meant for her to be my foster mother. It was meant for her to touch my life long enough to give me the will to continue to live. You see by the time I was ten. I was very suicidal and this last well into my 20's. Until using her words, I pulled myself together and realized that I can't allow someone else to control my emotions. And I left Christianity allow because it a made man religion. Now at 45 years old, am happy and very positive.My children love me as mt daughter just said she adores me. My 3 year old is piggy backing off the ten year old and said. I give the best love. We sometimes makes mistakes and yes even when children are involved. What important is being able to identify it and make the right choice to fix it. I am not a perfect mom and make mistake all the time. What is important is correcting my mistakes. I had to apologize to my daughter more than once. They have forgiven me and we move forward. We shouldn't shame that family as bad as they have been shamed and stop making assumptions.

I really wish more Christians would consider adopting. I have dear friends who adopted a little girl from Ethiopia, while having 3 biological children ~ ages 4 years, 3 years and 18 months when they brought home their baby sister! Yes, 5 under 5! And I know it is a long and expensive process, they did a lot of fundraising with selling t-shirts, bake sales, hosting community picnics, to raise the money they needed. Ethiopia’s adoption laws at that time (2009) were really different than South Korea. They only had to travel there once, but they had to stay for 14 days! The older kids stayed with an auntie and uncle who had a 2 kids of their own, both in high school, so they had a wonderful time with them! God Bless you!❤

I can’t imagine how hard it was for Esther to have Levi bond with David first! But that is NOT unusual in international adoptions! My friends who adopted a little girl from Ethiopia (when their three biological kids were 4 years, 3 years and 18 months), went through the same type of adjustment! Their new daughter “M” clung to Daddy, but actually screamed when Mommy tried to hold her! “M” had been in an orphanage for almost a year with the same 2 female caregivers who each worked 12 hour shifts. It was wonderful “M” had that stability, but it created a dilemma for her poor little heart after she left them. But both her forever parents did a lot of attachment work and the bond was forged with both. ❤

I find myself commenting on every video you post. Esther and David- you are an inspiration to all who watch . Your dedication to your family, your religion, each other and David’s obvious dedication to his patients is amazing to watch. You spend so much time making sure your children eat such a healthy diet. My daughter, who is a dedicated nurse, is exactly the same. She spends a lot of time on her days off preparing veggie filled meals for my precious 4 year old granddaughter and 2 year old grandson. Levi reminds me of my grandson when he eats. They both love eating immensely and are quite messy- but nothing a bath doesn’t fix ! Esther- thank you so much for continuing to let us into your beautiful family. I look forward to seeing how you are getting along at the grandparents. You and the boys will miss David so much. I only wish more people would realize the sacrifice you and David and so many front line personnel families are making. If they understood your sacrifice perhaps they would abide by social distancing and wear masks or preferably stay home when at all possible !!! Take care of yourself sweet Esther.

However it's really obvious how much it really brings this family together and I regret that spirituality something so important to us has actually pushed us apart. I like that although 'no tv' is quite a controversial rule- you give the children plenty of other fun things to do like trampoline or music! I remember when I was a child I had a tv but a violin and a trampoline were the things I wanted the most in the world. My grandma bought me a trampoline for my birthday! I'll never forget that day!

Just found your adoption videos the other day. I have watched a lot of different adoption videos and what I see different in your that I think makes so much difference in the child's adjustment to a new home is that you guys speak his language and also eat a lot of the same foods he is used to. I think it should be a requirement that new adoptive parents learn some of the language of the child they are adopting to help with understanding them. They should also learn to cook some of the foods they are use to. It is a big shock to these children throwing them into a whole new culture of strange people, words and food. I know I as an adult would a little tramatized of someone took me and dropped me off in a strange land where I couldn't comminate and had to eat foods I did know. Levi looks so happy with you guys and seems to really love his new brothers too.

Three boys!! Triple blessings. But it must be physically challenging. There is a Korean saying (mostly among mothers) that a tiger wouldn't even eat a mom of three boys (because the tiger would take pity on the mom :)) Thank you for this awesome lovely video. Stay safe~

I grew up making spring rolls! I had a neighbor family who was Japanese. My sister is adopted from China and had playdates w their young ones. They always made the best food haha. I'm obsessively looking into international adoption and Korea seems to be my best fit unless I want to wait til I'm 30 and my options open up more. One of my best friends is Korean and he's teaching me some basic terms and culture!
