Variety is the spiceof life. That being said, I still can't understand why they choose to operate the 744 PAX to LAX when it's quite a gas guzzler and they have other more fuel efficient too. They should just put the 744's on high volume intra-Asian routes like CX does nowadays. Although CX still has a few 744's doing European routes, that will end as soon as they get enough 77W to replace them.

That's exactly what BR is doing using their 744 for the China / Hong Kong direct run, fuel issue is less severe with 2-3 hours flight. Since frequency to China is limited , 744 works perfect

The only long haul routes for BR744 looks to be Vancouver and Seattle only, the rest are routes within 3 hours. One advantage 744 have over 77W is the belly cargo hold plus additional 54 Passengers.

@linjeflyg8 жыл бұрын
B5 is Boeing designation for Korean Air , B747-400 type for Korean is B747-4B5. China Airlines designation is 09, type B777-300 is B777-309 for China Air.

Soon it'll be seven types, 747-8i..
@손재영-v3q10 жыл бұрын
Nope...it'll be six types. It is because Korean Air's B747-400s will retire step by step until 2018. The new B747-8I will arrive in 2015~2017. Several 744s had already retired and Korean air is decreasing the amount of use of B744 in long flights. I guess if the B747-8I arrives, B744s will be completely excepted from the RKSI->KLAX route. Too sad :(

Korean Airlines service Seoul to Honolulu, with no continuation to LA.
@김건우-i3g9 жыл бұрын
When Korean Air started service to the US long time ago, KE1(now mostly A332)route was Seoul-Tokyo-Honolulu-Los Angeles As a tradition, KE1 stopped at Tokyo and continued to Los Angeles. But due to other airlines' increasing flights to Los Angeles(especially at Tokyo), they changed this flight to Honolulu(via Tokyo)

They do operate 737 but regional only like from Seoul to Busan or Daegu because it's a short-range aircraft, long range aircraft of Korean Air are only operated to LAX and other cities/states in the U.S. and other countries as well
