Yeah smart idea. But do not forget to cover the lathe with cloths, so that not one grain of the anvil paper, that falls of during sanding, can get in the metal bed sliders or other places. That will ruin the metalparts of the machine.

I love the way a steel ball is used to expand the circumference of a ring. Very satisfying - I think because it's so simple and economical. Edit: Oh I see now, it's more to flute the lip. It looks wonderful
