@giedruzate I think they were meant to teach lessons to both adults and children, but kids could probably handle darker themes better back then. The first edition of Grimm’s fairy tales brought together traditional German folktales, and it had incredibly bleak elements, but the book was called Children's and Household Tales. It was the second edition that was more innocent because it was edited to be more Christian.
