I've kissed my best friend at a party. Didn't matter, I'm gay and my best friend's a girl lol. I kissed like 5 or 6 other girls. I guess kissing is a culture thing.

In Latin America kissing is not a big deal. Here we kiss between 3 or even 4 people. Kissing is not something serious for us. It's not like we're going to marry every person we kiss.

From my perspective and life experience, I just don't see casual kissing as that big of a deal. You can just kiss people who want to kiss you for fun and there doesn't necessarily have to be any sexual or romantic connotations to it. Sometimes you just wanna have fun at a party (although we've obviously been having less fun since Covid.) Honestly, if you wanna kiss your friends and they wanna kiss you, go for it.

I think a lot of confusion across cultures is that here it makes a lot of sense to start dating your best friend. In fact there's a saying in the west that "the best relationships are derived from friendships." It's believed that your partner to some extent should be your best friend. Now there are friends or best friends who develope feelings for each other, and some that end up one sided - but not all male-female relationships end up with anything more than platonic feelings. A more accurate title for the trend would be "kissing my best friend and crush to see if they feel the same."
