As a Brazilian, sometimes just walking the streets is so interesting. I love people watching, and there's often such unique combinations, that it is fun to try and guess the origins of so many traits. I've seen Angolan descents with striking dark skin and eyes as clear as a pool, the son of a Japanese with natural copper coloured hair... Love really does create wonders. My blessings to those that decided to take root here, and that opened their hearts to people of such different cultures. It makes me hopeful that we can all learn to coexist peacefully.

For East Asians, more than 90% of people only marry people from the same country/race/culture/language, so for them, even if it's the same race, it's still a "crazy mix" because French and Russians have different languages, cultures and nationalities. For them, marrying someone speaking a different dialect is already kind of "mixed" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Being a multiracial person myself (Black, white and Native American), I thought it is important to make some clarifications. Being mixed race isn't necessarily dependent on nationality. In countries that are majority a certain race, there are often others of a different race. Such as in South Africa, there are Caucasians while the continent is predominantly black. Monoracial: A person of a single race. É.g. Caucasian Biracial: A person who claims two races. E.g. Black and Asian (Blasian) Multiracial: A person of three or more races. E.g. Black, White, Native American For example, the girl who has a Russian parent and French parent, both parents are Caucasian, which means she isn't mixed. By that definition, practically everyone is mixed. If either parent was born in the same country but was Black, Hispanic, etc, then she would be mixed.
@laurabel17242 жыл бұрын
I think it's a very american point of view. For exemple about the mixed french/russian girl, what you see Is they're both white so for you she's not mixed but technically Russia is in Europe AND Asia so her mother can be as mixed as the history of her own country (tatar, tchetchen, tchouvache, Armenian or bachkir?). Same for the father, France is more cosmopolitan than you can imagine, how can you know if her father isn't part Greek, Turkish or with parents or grandparents from Maghreb? Multiracial isn't something you can juge just by color standards, that's why I found your pov way too superficial.
@vanessamorgan22 жыл бұрын
@@laurabel1724 I have grown up as a multiracial individual. Is it true I don't know the history of Russia and France, of course. However, the social construct of race is divided into categories. I'm not American as well. But, as a whole a person needs to be definitively of two contrasting races, not only nationalities. This is a misconception. Having parents or grandparents from different countries doesn't automatically make you "mixed". It is becoming more and more common for races to intermingle in countries where this was previously not the case. I.e., various Asian countries. People are moving to foreign countries and starting lives and families. Of course if her mother is on the side that is considered part of Asia (which I don't understand why and will need to read up on) then I guess technically that is considered Asian. Also, I know people from a country are not necessarily of that nationality, at least not entirely, as could be the case with the father. However, even if was Greek or Balkan, etc, many would consider that to still be "white" even if by proper definition it is an array. "Race" is largely impactful of different physical features one possesses. It is one of the reasons "mixed" people are considered ethically ambiguous, because it is often hard to accurately interpret what mixture of races went into making that person. Especially when full blooded siblings can vary greatly in appearance. I would never try to denounce someone's identity, as that happens to many mixed people, with microaggressions, derogatory terms and nicknames, etc. However, I think there needs to be more awareness and knowledge of what being mixed entails. I only posted this because, not naming anyone specifically, but it feels like hopping on trends is a thing. Being a person of multiple ethnicities, this was a little more personal. I didn't come here to attack anyone. I just wanted to clarify some things. Being "mixed" isn't just a trend. Countless people, like myself live that experience everyday, no matter what mixture of races we are. We face identity struggles, where we are often made to feel like we don't belong. Then we found our own way of identifying, which to some still isn't good enough. But, my point is, if what you are saying is correct and the mother is from the side that is considered part of Asia, I would apologize. However, that specification is not made. This was the glorified side of being mixed, not the struggles. It is about celebrating your mixed heritage, and I just want to be sure it is being done so correctly. In closing, I just want to bring awareness to this topic so that falsehood isn't perpetuated. Most of these reaction videos are to the same few TikToks and for the most part, many of them correctly identify as biracial or multiracial. However, this term isn't to be used lightly. It would be nice for anyone who considers or considered participating in a "trend" like this be aware if it is appropriate to do so.
@vanessamorgan22 жыл бұрын
@@laurabel1724 Also, not that it matters. I'm just curious, are you "mixed"? No need to get too specific if you'd prefer not to.
@laurabel17242 жыл бұрын
@@vanessamorgan2 I get what you're saying but we need to understood that we can't deny someone heritage just because of their color (genetic choose not us). My family Is part Reunion Island and part metropolitan France, my cousins are mixed French/Egyptian but besides our parents none of us get any " typically ethnic" physical traits other than White and yes we were denied our heritage by people who assume we have nothing to say just because we don't look mixed Black/Asian nor Arabs.
@vanessamorgan22 жыл бұрын
@@laurabel1724 I appreciate your education and hopefully my response did not come off hostile. It's just a sensitive topic. I understand the whole "not looking" a certain race. My entire life I've been asked my different ethnicities from Spanish, Puerto Rican, Chinese, etc. Random people would walk up to me and ask me my ethic background, many incorrectly. Because I have almond eyes (which are not limited to Asian ethnicities), though Native Americans are considered Asian, people think I'm Chinese or some kind of Asian. I have no problem because all nationalities are beautiful, but it just needs a bit more understanding. Me myself am trying to understand why different cultures or regions would constitute making someone mixed. For example, people from the same country, such as Nigeria, but from different tribes. Unless there were different experiences in terms of colonization then I don't quite see how a different culture would constitute some as mixed, unless the other parent is definitively another race. Also, I have a niece whose parents are both mixed and she came out very fair, so I understand that whole thing of when people don't believe someone to be of a certain race because of their appearance. I think, overall, there needs to be more conversations about multiracial identity. Of course this wasn't a malicious thing. However, this trend, which as I pointed out, is the glorified side of being mixed, is not just some accessory to claim. Being mixed can be a struggle for a variety of reasons. I don't believe I had it as bad as many others, because I was lucky to grow up with a variety of people, including biracial and multiracial people. As much as I appreciate my heritage, there are times when it gets confusing. On forms, we are asked our ethnicity but there is no box for us except other. We don't want to be leftovers that can't be defined. Which is why we have our own terms. Unfortunately for some of these things we are attacked. In experience, there are people who believe multiracial or biracial people, in particular "light skins" (Black/white) believe they are superior to others, especially those with darker complexions. Which is why a lot of times it is hard for people with mixed ethnicities to celebrate their heritage. My mom was once yelled at on a bus, "All you white women stealing all our good black men." My mother is white and Native, but most assume her to be White, outside of a few Native Americans she has met.

When the tiktok with one Russian parent and one French parent came up I was like…. They really misunderstood the assignment 💀🤚 cause if you have two Caucasian parents, you aren’t mixed. And same with if you have two black parents, you aren’t mixed, because the context of the word mixed as used in this trend is mixed *race*, not ethnicity. It’s to celebrate the traits and beauty of mixed race people. But sometimes people get overexcited and participate in something that wasn’t meant for them ig
