What is Korean literature like? This video will give you a snapshot view of South Korean literature and literature by telling you about three unique stories from South Korea. Reading Korean fiction and literature is a way to connect more with their culture and way of thinking.

Fantastic reviews and information. I would never have thought to read novels from Korea and am now going to try and get all 3 titles. 'The cloud dream of the nine' sounds a little like the more modern title 'The monk who sold his Ferrari'.

Korean pop culture as in the Korean Wave is mostly very new with roots in both 1. foreign pop culture, mostly Japanese and western; and 2. in traditional Korean culture. For instance most K-Pop songs are written by hit factories in Scandinavia. But Korean literature is not part of the Korean Wave. Well maybe there are Korean novels that are part of the wave but Korean literature generally is much older than the wave. That said, even though I've spent time browsing the biggest bookshops in Korea, I have no knowledge of Korean literature. But I did start visiting Korea before the Korean Wave when there were no "Koreaboos" there like there are now. Actually the Korean have had started but had not reached beyond Asia yet. So it's not a surprise to me at least that there's not much overlap in Korean literature and what we know today as Korean pop culture. But thanks a lot for this video to introduce me to Korean literature!

I know close to nothing about Korean pop culture (music and TV) but I enjoyed reading these Korean novels. I want to explore more in the future.

@@Fiction_Beast TV was terrible when I used to go there, IMHO but they were already making some incredibly good movies. Unfortunately they were also making a lot of knock-offs of Japanese movies at the time so I didn't find out how great the good ones were until much later. And they keep getting better.

There is a lot of repeat footage, mate. It's not bad but my brain is not pleased. Also, I like your voice. People take criticism very serious, so I have to point this out. Your voice is pretty awesome. It might be better if you match the voice, picture and narrate the whole thing to make it flow like a movie, it stead of power point. Cool? Cool.
