just FYI an AFRO IS NOT A TREND! or "a trend back then" like the lady said. she is completely wrong for saying that. a matter of fact any other black hairstyles is not a trend. afro is deep rooted in black culture and any other hairstyles that is black!!!!
@janiyahgoldsberry89032 жыл бұрын
Right she should be educated more about this
@auspicious67032 жыл бұрын
Well by definition a trend just describes the general direction that people’s behaviour is taking during a certain time. So if a higher proportion of people decide to wear their natural hair as opposed to other styles you would say ‘the trend is towards natural hair’. There’s nothing inherently insulting about that statement, but it depends on the context. To use the term ‘trend’ to describe the afro as simply being a fashion statement would indeed be insulting.

it’s interesting hearing koreans think black hair is trendy to black people… what do they think our hair usually looks like? no wonder so many people in the entertainment industry in south korea think they can wear box braids, cornrows, locs, or wigs that look like afros or textured hair. they think it’s some kind of concept
@anari62592 жыл бұрын
Yeah because their country is not diverse like America and the UK. Korea is predominantly filled with Koreans. So I think because they are not exposed to different cultures everyday they lack education on other cultures and focus on their culture most of the time.
@mikailagray2 жыл бұрын
There are trends even for black hair styles. The Afro was a trendy style just like box braids were a trending style or Fulani braid, wash and gos, etc but just like anything there are some who find a style that suits them and they stick with it or popular styles come and go. After all micros and singles had the girlies in a headlock at one point, or things with black mens styles have even changed and fluctuated. However I agree that most people don’t understand that hair styles and techniques black peoples use are specific to our hair types and textures and needs, so the way we create things like locs doesn’t work for others because their hair doesn’t behave in the same way to achieve the style.

An afro is not a trend, that is natural black people hair. It was never a trend. That was us embracing our natural hair. The reason we wear afros is because, we thought our hair was ugly and not perfect so we got perms so our hair can get straight, and that sometimes make our hair fall out. But around the 80s we started embracing our hair. Black people hair is NOT A TREND!!!

Because AFRO'S ARE NOT A "TREND" or "STYLE/FASHION" and is are our natural hair that we've been "Comfortably" wearing since the 70s and 80s , mostly the 80s till now. Beyonce didn't make it popular, her and her dancers were showing "embracing of our natural hair". I pointed this out because for a long time black people were discriminated against because of their hair in school and in work, being told it was unkimped And unprofessional And inappropriate For work or school.
