Yeah knrnb/ k hip hop are a different industry than kpop k rnb/ hip hop artists have mostly creative freedom and can say/ do whatever they want wether in the lyrics or videos since Korea is hella conservative they have way less support and play like in TV since it tends to be more explicit at some point . Kpop is highly supported by government and they’re having a lot of pressure under themselves to keep a perfect image, a lot of groups also write and produce but they still have to tame themselves making it PG at some point. I like to casually listen to some kpop groups but I’m leaning way more towards k hip hop/rnb tho

I know this response is late, but I wanted to say "thanks" for writing this. The comment answered a question that I had about K-Pop and the classification. I think a lot of non-Koreans are just throwing all Korean artists into one category because they sing and rap in Korean. They're not really paying attention to the music's melodies and rhythms. Plus they're hiding behind the "The 'pop' means it is popular" reasoning. Knowing full-well the R&B singers and rappers from their countries aren't called "pop artists". Plus, with the cursing and the... revealing... stuff that is featured in their songs and videos (looking at you, Jay Park), it is very obvious that R&B singers and rappers aren't pop artists. Now, I gotta do my research to see, which R&B singers and rap artists are worth listening. Plus to see if they haven't done some stupid and insensitive shit.
