I used to go to a Parsi school, lunch provided there would range from different non vegetarian foods, but most of the times they’d serve chicken biryani. It used to be free for Parsi students, but other students had to pay a monthly fee for it; which wasn’t much, only ₹90 or something

According to him good education should be given only after serving good food so that people could concentrate well. Hence they follow it at our school. idk about yall but my school actually gave us Biryani, just the veg version, but it used to taste amazing! We also got Kadhi-chawal, Chole-bhature, Pav-bhaji, Idli-sambhar, bhindi ki sabzi with missi roti, paneer ki sabzi with naan, etc. We also always had deserts/fruits & on special occasions we could also get pasta & some other stuff.

I am from Kerala and here we get lunch (free) at government schools till 7th standard but it's not biriyani, it is usually rice and mung beans curry and someday it will be sambhar or any other veg curry .weekly we used to have milk and egg too.This was more than 11 years ago so I don't know if they are getting biryani these days.

In India government schools provide lunch. Some expensive private schools also provide food. Believe me both schools provide good food. There is another type of private schools ranging from not so expensive to just below expensive who do not provide food. Many kids actually study in those schools. They take lunch from home. Many Indians still think that mom cooked food is the best for a kid so some do not prefer school lunches. I mean mom's cooked food always wins.

Many people say that indian schools dont provide food like this for students for free . Well as a student in Kerela a part of southern india . I still am a student , and my schoool provides food like this . On monday to thurdays , Sambar , Rice and Pappadam . And on Fridays , Ghee rice and beef curry. On Saturdays , and some fridays Biryani . But the thing is that it costs ₹10-₹20 , and they will give us a ticket and the student has to go to the canteen at lunch time to get the food , there are also snacks like Bannanna Ada , bannanna fry , Beef Ada and traditional snacks like that in the morning break , also this is not from my experience but several of my friends as I'd joined this school at the end of term . In my previous school they didnt have a canteen yet , since the school had only opened at the time. And when i studied abroad they had Mandhi , Crispy Chicken Burger , Oman Chips , Caprisun , Shawarma , pasta and many more . But again that is my friends experience, cause I'd always brought homely cooked meals. And those saying this is only in South india , I've got several North indian friends abroad who moved to india and they've also got similar stuff . And in government schools they have established a mid-day meal program providing Things like Upma , Puttu , Rice and Sambar , eggs and milk , until high school (thats how they served it for my younger sister when she was studying in a government school in grade 3).

Note: from last 20-30years many south indian non govt school started mid day meal. Hot freshly made vegetarian meal. It spread to other south states afterwards. Now many states(all govt school n many private) school in sourh india gives free mid day meal. I don't know about north India so i can't speak for them. My lunch would be this. 1 palya(dry veg), rasam, sambar, rice, happala, pickle, buttermilk, 1 sweet. On few days like Saturday and few festival days would be 2-4 more items on menu. Plus some parents donated to have specail menu dpr whole school doe thiwr kid's birthdays. Sometimes some restaurant peiole did that. It was cleanly made by kitchen staff and served my teachers. And for kida who couls afford bit more could pay 100rs per month to get this. It was small city and it was a wonderful experience for me. All food were piping hot and cleanly made and tasty. Some days we had idli, dose, chapati, halwa becuase od festivala. My fellow indian paople im telling this for you in case if you don't know about this coz i saw many comments saying there is no lunch served at schools in India. (Plus thwre is a hindu organization called Hare kriahna served 17,00,00,000 meals a day all over india with help of around 24 states, its for primary school kids )
