I think it’s easier to think of nct as a BRANd than a group. Because it confuses some people because to most, “groups” are fixed. But nct is a brand that imo provides a lot of creative freedom…freedom to explore more concepts (because of its flexibility) and also, freedom for the individual too because as nctzens would know, the members have more creative freedom than traditional sm groups. They write songs, explore different creative outlets according to what they like, collaborate with any member they want for songs or even KZbin series (for instance the it’s awkward but it’s okay series was Doyoung and Renjun’s idea; Taeil likes cooking so he has his own cooking series, 127’s talk show was Jungwoo’s idea, President Chenle even made videos where the concept is the members doing whatever he says lol). Nct is a brand where you know you’ll be guaranteed visuals and talent (and loads of personality…they’re not called neo crackhead technology by fans for nothing!), something more experimental and creative, with flexibility and freedom. Also, can you imagine your fave groups coming together in all kinds of interesting collabs? I love it whenever there’s cross interactions between the Dreamies, 127 and WayV. And given how fractured relations are between Asian countries, it’s so heartwarming to see all these ridiculously attractive guys coming together as friends regardless of whether they’re Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hongkongers plus our German, Canadian, American haha…it’s so cool.

Their reaction to Taeyong is expected (he is really handsome) but it surprised me too that they barely react or flinch to Lucas or any of the other handsome guys like Jaehyun or Jaemin I guess Lucas' visual fits western and south east Asian appeal more.. in most of the reaction videos by westerners to NCT (or SuperM) it is Lucas' visual who got the most hype and surprised reactions but it could be to personal taste too.. the infamous "Korean beauty standard" also includes fair/white skin

처음에 입덕하기 전에는 너무 복잡해서 편견도 있었는데 지금은 이 체제가 익숙해져서 오히려 신박하고 좋음…없으면 아쉬울 정도 ㅠㅠ 딱 세 그룹으로 나뉘어있고 U를 유닛이라고 생각하면 애들 얼굴 더 자주 볼 수 있고 매번 새로운 조합 볼 수 있고 그렇다고 누구를 붙혀놔도 어색하지 않고 nct U 활동할 때 곡 컨셉에 따라 어울리는 멤버들로 구성하니까 무대 퀄리티도 올라가고…넘넘좋음…
