Sinigang is really easy to cook, you don't need vinegar, and you don't need to saute the vegetables. You just have to boil the pork until it tenderizes before you put all the vegetables. There are exclusively vegetables for Sinigang and these are tomatoes, string beans(sitaw), water spinach(kangkong), radish(labanos), taro(gabi), and onion-optional, you may put them all together in the pot if you want to after you feel that the meat is already tender and lastly the tamarind in the sachet, and that's it! 😊😊😊

Vinegar is best recommended as pre-marinating the pork to lessen its odor.

Sinigang is good with Radish or labanos in Tagalog , also can put eggplant or Talong , and dahon or talbos ng camote.

no need use vinegar when cooking sinigang, just Sinigang Tamarin or sampalok it's super sour. but you tried your best, its always been like that for the first try. good luck next cooking Lynn.

Hi Lynn, sinigang is just a really easy cook meal. In a pot with adequate water just drop the chopped onions and tomatoes and your desired cut meats since you're scared of hot cooking oil and not to saute them. Let the meat to get tender then add the sinigang mix with some seasonings and no need to add vinegar since you had your sinigang mix already and add your veggies. It's at your taste buds on how sour your sinigang can be. BTW, sinigang vegggies are like "kangkong, string beans, okra, egg plant" and you may ask the vendor in the market for sinigang veggie recipe!. Nice cooking effort Lynn!

Instructions Pour water into a cooking pot. Let boil Add onion and tomato. Boil for 5 to 8 minutes. Put the pork in the cooking pot. Boil for 25 minutes. Add the taro. Cover and continue to boil for 30 minutes. Add Knorr Sinigang sa Sampaloc mix, fish sauce, and ground black pepper; stir. Put the daikon radish in. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Add the chili peppers, okra, and snake beans. Cook for 7 minutes. Add the kangkong. Cover the cooking pot and turn off the heat. Let it stay covered for 5 minutes. Transfer to as serving bowl. Serve with a small bowl with patis and spicy chili.

Simple sinigang 1. Boil the meat 2. After the meat is tender add red or white onion, tomatoes and shrimp paste 3. Add veggies okra, radish, green pepper🌶️ and kangkong( water spinach) Last add sinigang mix. Try again ms. Lynn 😅😅

Hi Lyn👋you can't add venigar anymore because the SINIGANG MIX is already sour, his mixture is just right in a pinch..and you forgot to add little garlic and ginger to make it fragrant and remove the odor from the meat.. you also forgot the eggplant,okra,beans,tomatoes👍🏻👍🏻#sweetLyn

Boil the meat until tender. Add onions chopped and small pepper into your pot. Once tender, add tomatoes and salt. In 2 mins, add vegetables and green pepper 🌶️ . Then add your sinigang powder. Lastly, add kangkong leaves. Do not add vinegar and no need to fry.😊

Hi Lynn, this is how I cook sinigang. After everything was washed, prepare adequate water then drop the meat first with chopped onion and tomato. Don't saute. Let it boil until the meat becomes tender. Then put that tamarind mix, then add some seasonings.Never add vinegar. You can also add green sili or pepper with your favorite veggies.

good for the first time, and eventually you will find it so easy. when I use to make sinigang I just saute onions, garlic and maybe fresh tomatoes, and add the meat then add water till it boils and the meat is soften to your liken and then add the pack. You don't have to put vinegar because it is already in the pack of mixer. good luck!

Heat the pot and put-in the cooking oil Sauté the onion until its layers separate from each other Add the pork belly and cook until outer part turns light brown Put-in the fish sauce and mix with the ingredients Pour the water and bring to a boil Add the taro and tomatoes then simmer for 40 minutes or until pork is tender Put-in the sinigang mix and chili Add the string beans (and other vegetables if there are any) and simmer for 5 to 8 minutes Put-in the spinach, turn off the heat, and cover the pot. Let the spinach cook using the remaining heat in the pot. Serve hot. Share and enjoy! from Panlasang Pinoy

its cool to try stuff... its how we learn... i think the veggie mix is for chopsuey... and green onion is for garnish... curious tho never saw it being cooked first... but yeah sinigang mix will fix almost all of it... vinegar will add a bit of bitterness and might not be a good smell in relation to sinigang... but interested to know how it goes adobo paksiw sinigang flavored maybe... but cheers for trying the content was fun 😂❤🎉

If cooking with pork..fry pork till it changes color about 3 minutes add water boil for at least 45 minutes...makes sure to scoop up floating foamy scum and dispose of it add Vegatables and sinigang mix and season with black pepper(optional)cook for another 10-15 minutes so soften vegatables...shrimp cooks faster...beef takes about the same time ad pork to soften the meat

Suggestion: Cooking sinigang is very hard because there are alot of things to consider: 1. What type of meat you put in the dish. If hard meat like pork or chicken. Put it first by sauting it with garlic sauce, onions and tomatoes. If it is fish or seafood (shrimps, crabs or clams), put it last . 2. Put hard vegetables first, ex. Sliced eggplant (wait for the sinigang to boil again after putting it or around 1 or 2 minutes); then, long beans (string beans or any beans and wait for the same length of time with the eggplant); next is radish and last is the leaves (kangkong or bok choi). 3. Put the squared taro roots together with the hard meat. Or, put it immediately with your water, bring it to boil and soften. 4. Put the sinigang mix last or before you put your leaves (kangkong or bok choi). See to it that all of your other ingredients are soft enough before putting the sinigang mix. Because sour ingredients tend to make your meats and vegetables hard to soften (it will make your cooking time longer and harder). 5. Add small amount of sinigang mix first to taste. (Add more if you are not satisfied with the dish sourness). 6. No vinegar in sinigang... If you want less sour, tomatoes are enough (alot of it, maybe 10) or guavas; if you want more sourness, use tamarind, kamias, calamansi or batwan (a western visayan sour fruit). 7. Cook your hard meat at high heat and turn your heat into medium when cooking your vegetables. 8. Have patience and enjoy cooking!

Contrary to what you say,sinigang is easy to make. There are plenty of sinigang tutorials in you tube. Just look for it. When cooking Filipino dish,make you tube your best friend.

Your efforts are fine. I suggest you watch all the different KZbin videos on how to cook Sinigang. That way, you won't have to go any restaurant anymore. It will save you the trouble.

Annyeong lods:)) Vinegar isnt needed when cooking Sinigang because it will make the dish bland. But you made a good effort in your cooking by getting out of your comfort zone to try. Practise makes perfect and someday you can do it perfectly i believe in you and you can do it lods:))

Hi Lynn. Good try. However, Sinigang doesn’t have vinegar. What gives the Sinigang the sourness is the Tamarind or Camias. When cooking Sinigang you fry the onion and tomatoes first. Once the onion and tomatoes are soft, you add the meat and fry til the meat is lightly brown. Once lightly brown, add the water, Gabi (Taro) and Sinigang Powder. Boil for about 45 minute to an hour until the meat and Gabi(Taro) are soft. Then add the rest of the vegetables and boil for another 5 to 10 minutes. Add a bit of Fish Sauce to adjust the saltiness to your taste. Then serve with hot steam rice and enjoy. What I like to do when eating Sinigang, I like smashing the Taro into the rice, adding a lot of broth, mixing it and eating it with the meat and vegetables! Sooo good!!!😋

NO VINEGAR.....lynn you dont need vinigar...its easy like this....cut first meat into small pcs. then in hot oil fry the pork for a small time then add water..when its soft already add sinigang mix...then when its ready add last the vegetables you like...add also salt, green chilli, kangkong sitaw if u like....thats it...easy..maybe 30 mins the pork will be soft

Noooooo, we never put vinegar on Sinigang either fresh tamarind that u boil, peel it and sqeeze it or guava, is the most common, Vinegar is commonly used for Adobo or Paksiw but never Sinigang, fruits or the instant ones from that Knorr pack is what makes it sour.

no vinegar and cabbage, cabbage for Nilaga, Simple Sinigang you need Taro ( Gabi ) , Tomatoes ( Kamatis ), Stringbeans ( Sitaw ) Sinigang mix and meat, 1st step boiled the meat until it tender then add sinigang mix tomatoes and taro, last to put the string beans and fish sauce for seasoning

Easy way cook sinigang boil water with pork boiled it until the pork soft, nxt put the gabi, radish, string beans, eggplant and young okra. simmer for 5mins then taste it with sinigang mix and fish sauce (taste it) cover.. after 2mins put the swamp spinach (only the leaves) simmer for 5mins then all done 👍

For sinigang there is no need to put vinegar, sinigang mix is already ok, or you can use sour fruit like sampaloc (tamarind) or kamias as souring agent. If you use vinegar as souring agent then it is called paksiw. And vinegar is mostly for fish like bangus.

For me, the besr source of information on how to cook sinigang is no other than KZbin! There are so many videos about it actually, some don't include vinegar in the recipe -- just the Knorr Sinigang powder widely sold in supermarkets and sari-sari stores!😊❤

Lynn next time, if you have one packet of sinigang mix, just put 3/4 of the mix and don't use anymore vinegar. It will be tooooo sour. NO NEED FOR VINEGAR IF YOU USE THE SINIGANG PACKET

lol , i never had Sinigang with vinegar in it. The Sinigang powder is mad our of Tamarin thats what makes it sour. No need for Vinegar

Boil the meat 1st for about 30-45 minutes to make it tender. No need to put oil so it will be healthier. Put the chopped onions and cooked for 3 minutes and then put the chopped veggies into the pot after tenderizing the meat. After that, put the sinigang mix (2 sachets of 20 grams sinigang mix add more if it isn't sour enough) and sprinkle some pepper and rock salt to add spice and salty flavor. Just leave it for 2 minutes so you don't overcooked the veggies. This is my own healthy version of sinigang.

I think you should first try it at the restaurant so, you have an idea how it taste. actually you have the packet so you just boil the meat whatever it is. when the meat is tender then add the packet and five minutes later add the cabbage, or string beans and when the vegetables is to your liking, just turn it off. You can add fish sauce when you are ready to eat. very simple actually making it from scratch is not that hard either. Good luck! it was funny though when you almost put the whole vinegar bottle. Hi lynn, you don't need to add vinegar because the sinigang mix is already very sour and no onion leave is added, the vegetables you should add are kangkong and eggplant.

Cook Begin by washing pork spare ribs in cold running water to remove any visible impurities. Then, place pork ribs submerge in a medium pot with a liter of water. Bring to a boil without covering the pot and allow the scum to float to the surface. Meticulously remove the scums from the surface of the water using a slotted spoon or a spatula. Scums are impurities found in meat. After the broth clears up, turn you heat to medium setting, then it’s time toss in your onions and tomatoes to add flavor to the broth. Cover your pot and let it simmer to fully cook your meat. Use a fork to pierce the meat so that the flavors would also enter the meaty parts of the spare ribs, You also do this so you can tell if it’s already set and tender. You can already add your vegetables. Start by adding the sitaw, kangkong stalks and talong into the pot and cook until these turn dark green. If you decide to use labanos and okra, you can also add those at this point. This should take roughly around 2-3 minutes. Add in your siling sigang, kangkong leaves and the Knorr Sinigang sa Sampaloc Mix. Stir and let it simmer. It should be done in about 2-3 minutes. All done! Transfer your Sinigang to a serving bowl. This is a happy treat that warms, soothes and satisfies everyone in the family! Remember to prepare extra servings of rice to enjoy the extra asim kilig taste of this Filipino classic soup. Enjoy!
