Sorry but if this아침 mean breakfast then what is 이침식사 mean
@KOREANFULLCOURSE2 жыл бұрын
아침 is actually morning, but often Koreans use it for 'breakfast'. 아침식사 is breakfast too. (아침 - morning, 식사 - meal)

Great job on the visualisation. But I must say there are so many words that are (almost) exactly the same as in English. They make this list completely useless, bc we allready know those words.
@KOREANFULLCOURSE Жыл бұрын
Yep, I thought about it before choosing vocabulary for this video lesson and I did this on purpose. So now you know that, let's say, mayonnaise in Korean is 마요네즈, chocolate is 초콜릿 but not something else, and so on. So, it's not useless. It's luck :) Lucky that you don't need to memorise these words. Chinese learners could also say that Korean dictionary is useless, because over 60% of Korean words also sound similar and Chinese people already know these words. E.g. Culture - MunHak - WenHwa Center - JungShim - JongSin Mountain - San - Shan etc.

Thank you for the reply! As a teacher of German langage in the Netherlands (two very similar languages), I have some experience with this. Much of the vocab in Dutch and German is the same or similar. Therefore at my Uni they taught me to only teach the words that are diffrent or have a diffrent spelling. In my personal experience this works well because students receptively understand the words that are the same. And when they cannot produce a word in German, they will reach back to their mother tounge or a secondary langaue: Dutch or English. So about the video: English speakers have already mastered a lot of these words and will be self-reliant both in hearing and speaking. Imagine a tourist wanting to order ice cream and milk, he‘d be able to get the ice cream, but not the milk. So wouldn‘t the word ‚우유‘ have been better to focus on in the video? The only use I see for words that are the same is it can be helpful learning the alphabet and phonetics, since the writing is the only distionction. I hope I explained it well, don’t take this as hard criticism for I’m very positive about the rest of the video! I think you did great job on the visualisation and the categorisation :) makes the words much easier to learn.

Cuz these words can help you to develop your vocabulary sooner as a beginner. Most of language learners use this method
