Nocte are Nagas..just that they're from Arunachal and Burma. Many naga tribes live outside of Nagaland.
@MR_TRIPLE_ONE2 жыл бұрын
Noctes along with tangsa and wancho are the original nagas. It's funny that most these people now don't want to be called naga because of atrocities of nscns when the naga word is originated from them and others are proudly flaunting the word naga. 😅 It's a known fact that missionaries from Dimapur and elsewhere came and converted many to Christianity and told them to throw away old customs and traditions since it's saitaan worshipping. And they took the ornaments to nagaland and showcasing in hornbill and their festivals. BTW, the white cowry shells is called "Tok" in my dialect and most northern naga dialects. We wear it with red/orange beads. There are many different types of "tok". And we have histories and folklore mostly in remote areas of all the ornaments and gears we wear. I guess which nagaland tribes won't have. Sadly eastern nagas who are the most similar to Northern nagas can't be seen in hornbill festival.
@larnihanshu6952 жыл бұрын
@@MR_TRIPLE_ONE they can't be seen thus year as they're are protesting for the Eastern Nagaland. Sadly we the nagas are divided again like always 🗿
@MR_TRIPLE_ONE2 жыл бұрын
@@larnihanshu695 it's a well known fact why they are protesting for statehood. I being from tlc in arunachal support the demands of my brothers and sisters. No one wants to admit but it's a fact there have been negligence towards eastern nagas of nagaland. And naga nationalism died when nscn got divided into k and Im. The most brunt of those infightings have been in eastern nagaland and our tlc in arunachal where we have lost uncountable no. of souls. For what? For some leaders and political leaders in the small state called nagaland and their towns kohima and Dimapur to keep getting the importance and the monetary gain whereas most of our people in the remote jungle suffering because of our naiveness and innocence. Naga nationalism would have died long way back when phizo was chased from his home if not he didn't come asking for support from our people. I still remember my grandfather talking about phizo and how most of the tlc people in past supported our nscn and naga movement. Our areas were under ministry of external affairs Nefa and not directly under Indian union at those days. Later teunsang got bifurcated from us and joined naga hills to form the tiny state called nagaland. While many of us were left ignored and neglected. Even now many of the nagaland people won't know about the naga tribes of arunachal and their contributions of naga cause. Our people have never ever been called for any important meetings or functions like say hornbill but suppose the villagers won't pay tax they would be automatically summoned to Dimapur to get punished. There are many stories which I won't be able to mention and don't even want to. When the britishers and the ahoms couldn't even subdue our people and annex us but this naga nationalism and brotherhood has weaken us from within. Our people and our region declared disturbed with afspa and all the fighting taking place while our people live in fear and neglected by the central and state govt of arunachal and sadly the people of nagaland aswell ironically for whom our so called people are suffering. While in nagaland there's ceasefire and festivals and the rich leaders getting fat and richer our deprived people toiling hard in the remote jungles in the dream of "saadhin" freedom. Those were the days but now most of TLC youths has their own dreams and future and has forgotten the past. And it's good to see our blood kins of Eastern nagaland doing the same. We don't even need the "naga" tag for our identity and beat our chest for it. We know who we are and our rich history behind. Just wish our tcl leaders and enpo leaders to workout and build a future together. Tcl people deprived by govt of arunachal. Eastern nagaland deprived by government of nagaland. Victim of so called naga nationalism. Caused us Mostly because of our ancestral blood of straight forward and simple, brave and naive how a noga maanu was like back in the days.

@@MR_TRIPLE_ONE well i understand your pain like you said most when NSCN split up ..Naga national took a hit, my people were hit hard too and many of my family members died for what? Look at us the so call Advance tribes call us kacha Naga even though we the Southern Nagas have given up a lot for the cause. It's a sad story..i would also wish for a day when we can also be separate from Manipur and not dominated by the Manipuris luckily for Arunachal you have better future, but then again most of the money is flowing to the Nyishi region there too and like usual we Nagas get the back seat...the so called Advance tribes don't wanna help their betren who are still poor and cultivating by jhum in the jungles.

@@Quirkyfactoids123 🗿 they're the original Naga...the term naga was first used to refered to present Eastern Nagas.
@MR_TRIPLE_ONE2 жыл бұрын
@@Quirkyfactoids123 naga word was used to denote the present tangsa subtribes of tang clan first then the noctes and the wanchos and konyaks. The word naga/noga has it origins and meaning in these tribes so it's funny people coming up with their own conclusion. I belong from tang clans of the great tangshang tribe. My ancestors were the first who fought the ahoms in 12th century near Waktham at pangsua pass arunachal burma border. And my grandfather called himself noka maanu proudly. And we have been called noga maanu by the assamese tribes since centuries before british came and start calling others as nagas. The kachin calls us "khang". We call them and the tai as "tsam". Meaning people who reside in plains and are clever and cunning. Prior to the British advent in northeast there is mentioned of naga histories and folklore among assamese tribes which the britishers took are all from our region. For example, first christain missionary miles Bronson came to namsang village in tirap district. Before that ahoms used to trade salt with us. We used to sell them. And even before that we pushed the kacharis to the plains from patkai hills. There are mentioning of naga tribes drinking blood of enemies which is a history of my ancestors who were not cannibal but in the feudal period between tangshang and kachin (khakhu clan of singpho to be specific) my great great grandfathers cut their throats and drank their blood and bloodied the lake of no return(nongyang) lake with their blood. There are many such folklore which won't be documented or said or written of the original noga people who hunted on this patkeng kan since centuries. The assamese tribes of the plains were scared of the noga maanu who they feared and respected aswell. Many naga tribes during ahom were looked up and given lands or annexed the plains of assam till makum. The ahom buranjis though one sided biased history mentions many of such history of the early 13th centuries and later on.
@MR_TRIPLE_ONE2 жыл бұрын
@@larnihanshu695 not to the eastern nagas of nagaland. The noga word first was used to the tangsa tribes of TLC arunachal by the kacharis and ahoms and is documented in the ahom buranjis in the 13th century when the nogas of tang clans attacked and revolted against the ahoms passing through their land.

@@MR_TRIPLE_ONE arunachal nagas, Konyak and Burma Naga are called Eastern Nagas Southern Nagas are the ones in Manipur and Cachar. and Central Nagas are most of Nagaland. I never said anything about Nagaland.
@MR_TRIPLE_ONE2 жыл бұрын
@@larnihanshu695 then who are the northern nagas? Cannot club the tribes under Northern or eastern. Because the first to be coined nagas are northern nagas and the same group are also geographically easternmost in North region of Myanmar. The 80+ subtribes of tangsa or tangshang,( noctes, tutsa, ollos,tangsa in india and the multiple subtribes of tangshang in Myanmar) are the northernmost and easternmost nagas and share the linguistic group as northern nagas under Sal group. The wancho, konyak, phom, Chang and khiamniungan and their related tribes in Myanmar like htangan, ponyo, etc are the central according to the geographical logic and the rest are southern. Won't that be logical? Although all the mentioned tribes above should comes under "tangshang" banner through genealogy and origin Which has its origin in southwestern china to Yunnan, to hukwang and then India. For example many thought khaplang belonged from konyak or eastern naga but he was from tangsa or tangshang in Myanmar. The definition and administration of these groups are hard to define like other tribes in the region because of the similarities aswell as the differences. For example one group of wancho(wakka) in Indian side are under wancho who shares 100% affinities with konyaks.but again the same group in Myanmar comes under tangshang.(call themselves tangsa) Multiple clans and subgroups in different waves of migrations came together to form the tangsa, nocte, wancho, konyak etc administrative names recently. But the intermixing of 2 main clans is evident. I know this knowledge may be insignificant to others, but since there has been no proper studies of the northern/eastern nagas origin and folklore and always about the southern nagas makhel theory in the mainstream. I wanted to share my information of the great tangshang clans. The original nagas whose story has been stolen by others whose culture used as showpiece for monetary gain. I know it hurts the rest of the nagas of nagaland and Manipur but ironically, the originator of the term aren't that fond of the word "naga" and reluctant because of the stigma attached. No doubt the similarities are there with the rest of the nagas, but similarities are there with the kuki chin mizos, the mishmis, the jingpho kachins, the abotani ethnics aswell because all belong to one tibeto-Burman family. And interestingly linguistically very similar with old Chinese aswell. Probably as per my opinion I would say tangshang dialects are the closest to proto or earliest sino-tibeto-burman group.
