Hi Loloy, I was born in Sorsogon and presently living in Naga City kya pareho kita legit na mga Oragon. To all who don't know about Bicol Express, including some Bicolanos, I'll explain how that Food was given such a name. 1). The Bicol Region is famous for its Spicy/Hot Foods. 2). Actually in the olden days, there's a TRAIN called "BICOL EXPRESS", commuting from Manila (Tutuban/Divisoria Terminal) to the Bicol Region and back. And as it traverses every town/city one can hear it's loud WHISTLE. 3). In Sorsogon (not a city yet), sometime in the '60s they have this dish called "Gulay na Sili", meaning ALL SILI (Big/Long Chili) and with just little Pork or Shrimps called "Bangot", ginger or tanglad (lemongrass), onions, and garlic cooked in Coconut Milk. 4). Since it's almost ALL SILI, therefore it's really, really SUPER HOT. And if anyone try it for the first time, most probably he/she will WHISTLE like the BICOL EXPRESS TRAIN. Thus, THE BICOL EXPRESS DISH was born.
