Man, i am lost! So my motherlanguage is turkish(oghuz turkish) and we were from the same Language Family (well it used to be valid but currently lost its validity mostly). Altaic Language Family. Well even if it considered not true currently but both Korean and Turkish languages have the same sentence structure. Aaaand i am here trying to learn korean on youtube(well i should go to a course or something). So she is teaching korean in english and trying to make sure the people understand the transition from SVO structure to SOV. But i also speak in SOV form in my daily life and as i watch i think SVO to understand what she’s saying to make sure i understand SOV (which i know). Idk why i typed this much but it’s weird to me. (And having this much similarities in language does not mean anyhting about race. They are different subjects but i am sure both languages origins were same or similar... Or one of them influenced by the other and evolved through time but kept its main structure. Love from Turkey to Korea and beyond)

I was stressing this word 혼자 alone (I watched all by myself) it makes me seem sad/desperate/lonely. The "our house" thing can translate back into "my house" to sound more natural in English (if you want to do that). My friend watched many Twice videos at my house yesterday. I'm lying, I watched many Twice videos alone. 🤣 Thank you, teacher.

Some time words do not use the time particle -에 (-e). These words include: 지금 (jigeum), 오늘 (oneul), 내일 (naeil), 모레 (more), 어제 (eoje), 그저께 (geujeokke).

I have a question: There are two formals, when do we use the -bnida formal and -yo because I know -yo is polite but -bnida is more polite and I don't know when to use -bnida instead of -yo or -yo instead of -bnida.. PLEASE HELP!

It depends on who you are talking to. 요 is formal, but something like regular formal. You use it regularly, as being polite in Korean is never a bad thing at first. But the ㅂ니다 ending is used when you need a higher level of respect. Your boss, elderly people and such. There are several videos talking about the subject. Just search for levels of politeness on KZbin/Google and there you go.

And for example I'm a teenager and so if I go to let's say a supermarket and the cashier is a lady who is older than me, would I use the -yo form? I think you should consider the relationship you have with that person. Being older is a must in terms of use of polite tone, but when it comes to people you don't really have a lot of relationship, like the cashier, using the extremely polite tone is too much. At least in my point of view. But, if it's your boss, and that person is only a few years older, I guess the more formal conjugation is applicable. I mean, it does not depend only on the age. But the level of respect. That's why, when in doubt and excluding obvious situations like visible older people, I would use 요.

Probably just a slang, i think its reasonable to assume koreans dont always follow the language rules, just like english people using short forms of words or just neglecting to use proper sentence structure to get a simple point across for the sake of convenience. That's why if you want to speak korean its best to actually participate in conversations with locals, that way you can understand dialects and the slang they speak in. Theory obviously helps but real life talking is always better.

Hi Imagine That, Thanks for posting. In spoken Korean, people tend to omit the particles (thinking that the listener knows which particle has been omitted in their sentences). This is why it is important to know particles, just so that you know what was left out! Cheers, Team KoreanClass101.com
