A ball gown is a proper gown that covers the books and hugs the top part and flars out with many layers so when you twil it goes into the shape of a ball. And you are supposed to wear them to proper and respectful dances. Ex. Prom, weddings, coming of age, holiday dances for those families who are super rich, high class fundraisers.

It may include Junior and Senior class members who invite a guest from any high school class. You do not have to have a date to attend. Different parts of the country have differing rituals associated with attending prom.

typically prom isn’t a graduation thing. they are different celebrations. typically you have prom for juniors and seniors (11th and 12th grade) and while many couples do go together, a lot of girls go with their friends instead. i don’t know about every other school but my school we always have themes. last year was masquerade. prom is a huge thing in america. when you turn on tv during prom season, you will see so many ads about sales for tuxedos and dress for prom. the reason the girls have so many dresses is because many girls go to professional dress shops and get fitted/try on dresses. it can take hours. i went shopping with my friend last year and it took about 4 hours before she finally decided on a dress. prom is even so big that many of the US schools get half a day or are allowed to leave early to prep for prom which is typically at night. for guys i’m not too sure how long it takes but for girls it can be almost an all day thing to get ready. sometimes (depending on what the girl is having done) preparations can be a week long thing.

Prom is just a school dance that occurs a couple weeks after first term exams. Upperclassmen can go so long as they buy a ticket; they can invite underclassmen too but have to buy a ticket for the underclassmen. Some go with their boy- or girl- friend. Some just go with their friends for like a girls night or guys night. Then you have after prom too. After prom is usually just entertainment and games and junk food. Every place does prom differently but that's how my school did it. They also had tickets for after prom that you had to buy to go. It was pretty expensive for tickets and then you're also looking for something nice to wear too......it just gets to be a bit much.
