It's a medieval thing that you get tanner by working outside. In Korean legends generals/soldiers who've been at field have tanned skin with strong physique and bureaucrats/scholars have pale skin without much street-smartness. We still say "구릿빛 피부 Copper-colored skin" to depict a strong masculine figure and "백면서생 pale-skinned bookworm" to refer to those who don't know real life well.
@mac97334 жыл бұрын
@@technocracy90 Thank you for pointing this out. It's not necessarily ingrained racism like what some people would include but usually laborious jobs, warriors, free spirits can be associated with being left outside in the sun to tan and darken compared to scholars and nobles who kept inside and therefore preserved lighter skin. I'd hate for someone to assume something harsh about these associations when in reality, its just the difference between sun and little exposure. Even with how black and white skin became. Anyways, both extremely beautiful

So I just feel like a lot of the people really getting offended are the people who don't understand what kind of elves he means. He's referring to mythical elves, known for their absolute beauty. Elves in mainstream media like Lord of the Rings, are usually white people. Media doesn't portray POC as beautiful enough to be elves, which is ACTUALLY offensive AF. When he talks about the first girl, he's referring to the D&D race of Dark Elves, who usually have very dark skin and white hair and are VERY beautiful. He's not talking about some damn Christmas elves y'all, he's talking about ethereal beings. It is a compliment to their beauty. Saying they look like elves is akin to saying they're captivating and stunning. Some of you are taking it to mean he's saying black people that beautiful don't exist in real life, and that's not what he meant at all. As a D&D nerd, I was hyped as fuck when he said that. That's a humongous compliment, sincerely. I understand not everyone is gonna get the references and could be offended, but I just thought I should flesh it out. Also saying "she's just black!" could've for sure been said better, but this whole video was to focus on these models' unique features. Her skin is literally what she is known for, of course they're gonna bring it up just as they brought up the unibrow and the vitiligo. It wasn't meant to be rude, they were commenting on what they were meant to be commenting on. Obviously, black skin is insulted far too often on KZbin and other media, and it is a huge issue, but in this case, I don't believe it is so. However, as I said, it DEFINITELY could've been said much better. Also let me just add that feeling offended about this is not invalid! Everyone saying you're being too sensitive has no idea what they're talking about. He should have mentioned their beauty directly instead of making references not everyone will understand, and he should have phrased things much better than he did. Anyone offended by this is not wrong by any means, I just wanted to clarify what he meant. Not that his opinion matters, but sometimes, it just gets to you. The negativity and back handed "compliments" heard almost everyday is tiring and maddening, and can build up and weigh down on your self esteem. So to be clear, these melanin goddesses as the lady put it, are crazy gorgeous, as is every black person of all different colors.

You may not like what he said, but don't hate him for this nonsensical reason, or try to justify this hate and spreading it. Everyone has the right to defend him, like you having the right to criticise him. In the end, it was clear as day that he is complimenting the person and doesn't have bad intention. It is normal in the Asia culture to ask if a person is mixed if they look different and unique, so nothing wrong there as well. You could only blame yourself if you got hurt by his comment because it means you are too narrow-minded.

They were both literally hyping up every dark-skinned person and every single model especially the dark models were complimented so much. Of course lighter coloured people would be normal to Koreans, their country is literally 95%+ Koreans and have little to no exposure to other ethnicities and races outside of their own.

In mythology most elves would be a light color: so I see why he would see it that way. Dark elves aren't a common concept. If he had grown up knowing light-skinned and dark-skinned elves when he was younger, he would have said they were both normal. It's all about previous knowledge.

Welcome to the internet,when people can either be super chill,or overthink everything and even twist the other person's words,and don't care about the true intention (in this case: praise),and if you're not from the same race you don't have an opinion even if you want to be as pacific and respectful as possible. I hate to say this but I can kinda see why our generation is called the "crystal generation" Edit: i can't believe this is my most answered comment. *Clarification:* I'm NOT hating black people in any way,in fact this was aimed at any oversensitive people that causes fights from the beginning instead of talking and stuff like that. Also, english isn't my first language so I may use some words/therms a bit Wrong, I'm still learning so i ask you to take that in mind,and if you want to tell me something important I'll happily listen as long as you're not rude

Are black people not aloud to be offended anymore? yall love speaking for us
@Kinda_SUS3 жыл бұрын
@@oddlysatisfied7024 lmaoo look how you love twisting other ppl's words. You know? It's okay if you have an opinion,but the fact that even if something is said with respect some of you would get easily triggered is a bit.. tiring (? (English isn't my first language so have in mind that it might not be the right word) I mean, I've seen this myself, someone makes a small mistake and everyone is like "racist!!" But racism isn't only towards black people,it could be against everyone! The thing is,that I've seen other races be a bit more understanding about the situation. Plus, this isn't only about racism,but any thought on general,you can always get "canceled" for the most random thing,so, while I don't have anything against black people, sometimes I just want some peace. I've seen people get offended for things like "cultural appropriation", look,if I like something,and wear it respectfully,why would someone be mad at me? I just wanted to try something i found pretty. And the list could go on,i think, but I don't want this comment to be even longer
@Kinda_SUS3 жыл бұрын
@@oddlysatisfied7024 now that you probably read that long paragraph, I just remark again that,since english ain't my first language, this wasn't meant to be 100% offensive,but just giving a point of view from someone who's tired of seeing fights anywhere,and that some of the words/terms used might not be accurate enough to describe how I felt
@hevxhev3 жыл бұрын
It's about perception. People see the world through their experiences and lens in life. Therefore their perception of other people's words are filtered through their beliefs and lived experiences. So it's not about "twisting others words", their words came across a certain way to people that obviously from your comment you don't agree with. Which is fine that's your opinion and your perception. There is no "true intention", the reactors in this video did not state why they said the things they said so it is truly up in the air for others to interpret what they meant. Hence why there's differing opinions with those feeling uncomfortable and those perceiving the video positively. It seems to me that you are making a judgment on the people who have commented that you do not agree with. So just as much as you can type out a comment to judge others reactions through your own perception, others who felt uncomfortable with the videos commentary have that same right.
@Kinda_SUS3 жыл бұрын
@@hevxhev they were literally saying "pretty" everytime they saw a new model. And,just as you mentioned people see through a different lens,try to see through mine: you can't express any different opinion because there will be always ppl "calling you out", when you don't even mean something bad and made sure to show it (i also have another experiences but idk,i didn't want to expose my personal life). And tbh,i was taking this out of the video too, I'm tired of going through the internet and see ppl arguing over something that is just... Not worth it. Take a look at society,and tell me what you see, because I've been thinking about that too,and the original comment (or any of my replies) wasn't intended in a fight mode,but to make ppl think about it: are we too sensitive sometimes? Do we put ourselves in each other's shoes? This isn't intended to fight,but I'm actually curious about how we fight so much

okay one of theses comments bought up an important topic why is it that when black people look beautiful (they always are) "it's because they have eurocentric features" let black people be beauty in there own way with out putting them down/ others and history repeats it's self white will always be beautiful but black can be beautiful if they are "white enough"and I know some people might not get it or think it's that deep but it is.
@punkdadash12983 жыл бұрын
Mind you guys we as black people are BLACK. His statement about black people just being a brown complexion is very true. Most of his statements and compliments to ME personally didn’t seem rude harsh or even in the slightest offensive and meant with ill intent. I don’t know why or how some of you took this but one him calling the woman “almost black” you have to understand he may be used to seeing lighter brown tones or medium brown tones when it comes to black people and there skin. There are people whose complexion doesn’t seem just the regular caramel or lightskin or dark shade of brown. There skin tone do often appear as nearly or almost black in itself. Even though that is just a much darker shade of brown skin to others it can and may seem like the skin IS just black. Dark skin is beautifully reflective in that way especially when it comes to lighting and there’s no problem with that. I’m sure most darkskins understand that depending on the lighting there skin glows and reflects and can present as either dark or a very dark milky brown complexion. I honestly don’t think this man meant any harm by his statement.

when you ask a Black person if they are mixed right after you tell them they are beautiful, you are basically insinuating that their beauty definitely does not come from their Black side but instead from their other mixed side. This is a comment I have heard all my life as well, and when I tell people that both my parents are Black....they are always shocked.....some then go on to ask me if my grandparents are mixed or not. It is this idea that Black has to have other blood in it to be beautiful, but a beautiful Black person can never be Black. It is a backhanded compliment.
