They didn't do any justice for Rwanda and i'm a little bit annoyed that they put the influencer nude picture instead of choosing other people. They could have chosen different pictures of rwandan models or miss to represent the country not that influencer. They're more beautiful than her.
@anonnnymousthegreat16 күн бұрын
I noticed they mostly showcased medium toned or lighter toned blk women too. I can understand for blk american women they chose a blk woman with jayla’s skin tone because on avg, a blk american would have her skin tone, i’m a blk american woman with jayla’s skin tone. But the women literally in africa, i know the skin tone is on avg way darker than what they were presenting in the line up. So i was expecting to see way more melanin being showcased with 4a-4c hair types.
@annickumutesi133716 күн бұрын
@anonnnymousthegreat very true!!! I am from Rwanda, and I can tell you with just the winners of Miss Rwanda and their runner-ups that they could have a ton of different shade of skin tone. The first Miss Rwanda after the genocide was a dark skinned 18 years old student with short natural hair. Each year,each winner was different, and Miss Rwanda 2022 was actually a contemporary dancer with natural hair and no makeup. Actually, a lot of rwandese women don't wear makeup for their everyday life (just some of them). So they could have chosen with just the Miss or even the professional models too. The one they chose,the dark skinned model with bantu knots, was a renowned model too ,but she passed away a few years back. You should check for yourself and see. Or if they wanted to choose an influencer, they could have chosen Bella, who lives in South Korea and is actually a known content creator.

5:31- 6:09 Somee, it's important to remember that everyone has their own beauty standards, and it's inappropriate to comment disrespectfully about others' bodies. What's cute to you might not be pretty to others. I'm pleased to see the beauty standards evolving in South Korea and the availability of plus-size-friendly stores like Coolsis. I hope this will help many girls to love themselves and their bodies, embracing the beauty of women with curves.

@ramonamron51949 күн бұрын
Not ALL black American men say that! Stop making us out as the devil when we did not make up the race construct to begin with. Both black men and black women need to stop the vitriol between them, black men calling black women names, and black women feeling entitled. Maybe it is too tough, but not impossible.

Most random selection. North Africans won't consider themselves black. Ethiopian and Somalians consider themselves more arab than black. The black populations in Brazil are beautiful but hidden and not claimed by the rest of the population. Next time, please do a list where black women are not only beautiful but are also celebrated proudly. Where black people visibly claim and openly represent their blackness.
@Sillygrey-t4q18 күн бұрын
Ethiopians and Somalis consider themselves more arab?? Be so fr. That's just not true... we have a lot of connections culturally and linguistically to the arab world but that's it. Race is also a foreign concept for the older generation who didn't grow up in the west so some won't identify with a race and call themselves "Somali" or "Ethiopian" but we DO NOT call ourselves arabs. Ethiopians and Somalis that live/were raised in the diaspora DO consider and call themselves black. This is without even mentioning that there are MANY different ethnic groups in Ethiopia which completely differ appearance-wise, culturally and historically. I am just assuming what ethnic groups you are talking about. I'm not North african so I can't give tons of details but I do know that it is more ambiguous than you are making it out to be. North Africa is complicated racially as there are arabs, indigenous Amazigh (which differ and range in appearance) Afro arabs and those who are just generally racially mixed but there ARE Black north africans. Please don't spread misinformation...
@bliqiskatarialhassan18 күн бұрын
ethiopians and somalis are very much black. I've met more darker Ethiopians and Somalis than Nigerians. It's Somalia that has the identity crisis. Ethiopians are fine they know they're black lol

@Sillygrey-t4q Hi, I'm also African and was the president of our college African group. We had members from many countries and shared our cultures and thoughts. So, my comments are from what I learned during this time. I may not be correct about every individual in each country mentioned, but as president and working with a diverse group of Africans, this was what I was told. I'm always open to learning more. Obviously, you will know more about your country's intricacies. All I got was the generalizations.

Egyptians are not Arab. Arab countries basically colonised and mixed with them a long time ago so now they speak Arabic. Arabic is one of those languages where if you speak it you are Arab. Before the Arabs came to Egypt they were pure African Egyptian and spoke ancient Egyptian. Arabs also mixed with them like I said before hence why some Egyptians or North Africans in general, look ''Arab'' because they are descendants of a mix of the two. There are many ethnic groups in Egypt though and some are black but majority aren't
