No actually deepika doesn't have family in the movie .she's just rich girl who only parties and the guy too always only flirts with girls. Whereas Diana is a small town girl who comes to the city chasing her husband ( who didn't like n accept her and asks her to leave) .drunk Deepika comes across helpless Diana who did not know anyone or what to do also .deepika too was lonely girl( who hides it all by drinking and partying always) so she lets Diana stay with her unil Diana could stand on her own in the city.their bond into a wonderful friendship.both influence each other. Deepika helps Diana open up in the city making her meet her friends , dressing up etc and Diana too brings positive vibes and value in deepikas home . And the guy saif flirts with any girl so he did with Diana too once so she finds him disgusting but deepika is opposite to it ,she is somewhat like him only .she finds him interesting and the guy and deepika have a flirtatious / friendship kind of relationship so he too ends up in deepikas home,sleeps with her and all ( like friends with benefits).Diana hates him and doesn't like him all and that kind of flirtatious behaviour but still three of them become good friends but deepika- saif are like a couple thing but not lovers .on the other hand Saif's mom wants him to marry and asks him to pick any one girl that she finds for him .he did not want to get married so to stop his mom from finding more girls he says that he already found a girl he loves. his mom gives a surprise visit all of a sudden to meet his girl at deepikas home .but deepika was highly drunk so couldnt manage the situation so saif shows Diana as the girl he likes to his mom ( as she was like a homely girl whom his mom would accept and be impressed too) at first Diana denies but eventually goes with the lie as three of them are friends . so they are couple for his mom.and then slowly saif and Diana fall in love on the other hand deepika too starts to take her relationship with saif seriously after mingling with his mom ( she felt cared ,family etc etc).so love triangle starts after this song and movie shifts from rom-com to drama. when Diana n saif tell deepika that they love each other she initially cheers them but slowly starts feeling lonely n betrayed again in life . Fight arises n three of them part ways .Diana does not want to cheat her best friend who did so much for her and leaves him nd deepikas home .deepika too doesn't stop her due to which saif too leaves deepikas home. Nowhere to go Diana goes to live in her ex husband's flat .this time he is surprised by her changed attitude nd behaviour nd considers to rebond with her .looking at all these saif feels bad . On the other deepika is once again left lonely and parties hard with bad company and meet with an accident so saif comes to take care as he still cares for her .she is happy by his presence and loves him .but Diana is in his heart. Deepika realises it .Diana had retured back to India. Deepika travels with him to Diana's home and ( being his the utimate best friend) helps him propose Diana and deepika also states that she did not want to be a villain in their life also did not want to lose both of them ever. And always want their togetherness. so three of them hug at the end. But still felt bad for deepika in the end.there must be part two where she too finds a guy
