"Koreatown" photos really felt , to me , like they were shot on a large format camera. Sounds like Emanuel has the special gift to talk to people for hours and get to know them. Thanks for the video Marcus

I would've liked to see a little more of his work. Was that not possible?

Oh that’s a lovely story! I can relate to that. Right after COVID restrictions were less … restrictive many people started to spend more time in public places. They started to do more activities in my local park. That’s were I did my 2yr long project photographing people doing different (sometimes uncommon) sports. I’m not done yet editing the photographs. But I hope one day I’ll be able to publish a simple zeen or something of that sort.

Emanuel is just such an amazing, down to earth human being and a wonderful story teller. Koreatown Dreaming to this day is still such a wonderful documentation of a third culture experience that really helps me with my own personal identity. Glad you got a conversation with him and a beautiful portrait :)

It’s such a great book and here-and-now look at K-Town. I definitely left feeling inspired to do more with my own work.

Adore the video and interview. This brings mixed emotions, joy and anger. The anger is some bitter resentment for all the times I abandoned my own sets / collections. It is a complete loss of focus. Joy because of what Emanuel was able to accomplish and the stories he is trying to tell. The secret sauce is 100% Emanuel's ability to connect with his subjects. It is something to aspire to.

Thanks for watching! It’s never too late to go back to old work. I agree, following through on projects can seem impossible to finish. I struggle with that too!
