Since the keys pop off and on so easily, I wonder if a thin layer of felt under them would make them quieter without overly impacting performance and function. I like this keyboard and am considering it for the exact same reasons as you, but that noise gives me pause. I’m also considering the Akai LPK25, but it is also loud and twice as thick, a little longer and a little wider. But it does have default type keys, though mini. Have you tried that one? Thanks for the review. I love your intro music, BTW.

try the korg nano key studio.. pretty similar but lots more featurs. Same keyboard but has 8 knobs, X/Y pad with built in arpeggiator (multiple arp patterns) 8pads x2 banks, you can play chords on the pads, change scales, has scale guide and easy scale features, X/Y pad has multiple features too, keys light up etc... tons of functions. Worth a look if you want a bit more than just the keys. Oh and it's also bluetooth and works great with Ipad and even works with Akai MPC live.

Yes using a USB OTG cable the nanokey2 can be used with Android, provided you have an app that supports midi instruments

@@goobiexyz it's just an online semi-decent midi controller that is made to work with keyboards but can detect midi controllers sorta. It's definitely not the best and what kinda sucks is that there isn't a way to record whatever song you make. I kinda wish I knew of possibly a better free service that works with the korg that has more control and exportable files since I kinda want to use it to make sounds and little jingles for youtube videos

Thanks for this review. What a useless product (as in it has no real purpose). It shouldn’t cost more than $10, it’s like a step up from a quwerty keyboard. There are generally 3 groups of controllers: pads, regular keys, or something like Seaboard, and the type you get depends on your preference of expression. For example, for me expressive melody playing is 90% of my playing. If I want drums, I can just hammer at the keys (or even on the iPad screen if I just need on/off type of triggering) So I got Akai LPK25 ( there was also a Korg of the same style/formfactor (sorry forgot the model, Korg felt cheap in terms of key responses). The Akai feels like a professional keyboard - there’s precision in response and “regular” resistance from the keys. Keys are smaller than standard but without sacrificing playability, that is, l can make chords easily and quickly (which on the ipad 10.5” is often not the case) I really like the idea of the Seaboard Block (solely based on watching videos) and that it has no wasted space - I can use the controls on the iPad for X/Y type of stuff and knobs or faders. It might be convenient for some people to have them, but I’d rather have a more compact unit with as large keys as possible. It’s very expensive for a controller though ~$300 and I haven’t tested it in person to know if it’s precise enough for playing “normally”. Also apparently (and understandably) it’s not compatible with all synth apps. But it’s definitely the next level in terms of expression.

You know maybe you are forgetting some types of people? Those who have had musical expression in their heads for YEARS but have never played a real instrument significantly. Devices like this (what I am looking into since I find the Piano "intimidating") help people like me who get confused by the clutter of a Keyboard. I like the design, small, fits on the desk where my MPC Touch is at and I feel it will help me get into making music a LOT quicker. I have never played an instrument or made a instrumental on a computer. Well I have but it was back in 05' on some stupid PC drum only program that's probably not even around anymore lmfao!

I use Logic Pro and the built-in QUERTY input does not span two full octaves, which makes it difficult to play certain chords or even melodies. This keyboard is perfect because you can play a lot in its two full octaves and it’s so portable!
