Hi there and thanks. Actually I have completely redone this old video and this one goes into more detail and covers programming Midi CC and how you find the list in Cubase. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKTSmKWdnNutiK8. But the main ones are CC1 Mod Wheel, CC7 general volume control, CC11 expression, CC21 is vibrato for Spitfire and CC64 is sustain. There are many more depending on the instruments you have.

Hi Darren. Ordered one earlier today and I'd almost given up hoping I could control the transport whilst in CC Mode until I came across your video. Thanks for taking the time to make it - straight to the point and the screenshot of your Generic Remote set up was all this Cubase user needed :-)

@@findingsolutions198 I don't think there's yet been an update, no. But you can run the software on Catalina or below and program the device there, and it'll work when you plug it into a Big Sur Mac perfectly (for me, at least) how you've programmed it. I borrowed my wife's Mojave Mac and did it there with no problems.

@MoonhareStudio
@MoonhareStudio 3 жыл бұрын
To be honest I have had difficulties myself with this and I'm actually using the Nano mainly for key commands rather than using the faders now. I mapped the CC numbers for faders 1-3 on the Nano Control Software for Dynamics (CC1), Expression (CC11) and Vibrato (CC21) but these seem to now be randomly controlling CC1 on Fader 1, CC21 on Fader 2 and CC11 on Fader 7! I really have found no reason for this even though I've tried all sorts in the studio setup. If I discover a solution I'll do another video. --- OK found out what was happening. I think an update video is on the cards for 2021.

Sorry, off topic. I'd like to know how you have your keyboard slide under your desk. Thanks for the helpful videos.
@MoonhareStudio
@MoonhareStudio 3 жыл бұрын
No problem. The studio desk is one I made from scrap wood I had after some building work done. I bought a pair of cabinet runners to fit either side then bolted the wooden shelf that the keyboard sits on, onto these (they are the sort of thing that drawers slide out of in filing cabinets - an internet search for cabinet runners will bring up dozens of options from local hardware suppliers or a well known, world engulfing online retailer). You can see this in action in this video I did about it kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZnPpZ59qcqSnKM at about 1.45 on. One word of advice, make sure you buy heavy duty runners if you have a heavy keyboard. My Oxygen 88 is a fully weighted piano keyboard (20kg+) so I looked for runners that said they could take more weight than that. Using very light weight runners may be extremely cheap but will all end in tears! That said there are loads of pretty cheap heavy duty ones out there if you search around. Hope that gives you some ideas.

So can i use fader and Knobs with what purpose in your tutorial??
@MoonhareStudio
@MoonhareStudio 4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Yes you can still program the faders and knobs to do whatever you want by programming them in the same way as the buttons. You could even still use them as faders for your DAW mixer and pan pots if you wanted. I don't do that as I have the Qcons to do all that but really it is up to you entirely what you use the unit for. In my case I still have the transport bar working for example. I don't often use it for that but sometimes it is useful if I happen to be down that end of the main desk to stop me reaching all the way to the Qcon one.

Hi Moonhare Studio, Sorry to ask, but how is it possible to map the fader og the NanoKontrol 2 to the dynamics, vibrato, speed, expression,...in Spitfire audio ? Hi. Not in the studio at the moment but I will take a look and get back to you later in the week.
@MoonhareStudio
@MoonhareStudio 4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay - working on a theatre project at the moment. I haven't been able to replicate your issue here so it is difficult to work out why you aren't able to map the controls. One thing I didn't explain in the video (although I referred to the manual) is you MUST select the correct mode for the Nano prior to using it the first time. If you want to use as a DAW controller for Cubase you hold down the SET MARKER and the REW buttons then power up or plug in the USB lead of the Korg (make sure you keep holding the buttons down during power up). After it has booted up you can use the faders, pan pots etc as long as you've set it up in Cubase as described in the video. For using the controller in CC mode as I do you need to hold down the SET MARKER and CYCLE buttons as you power up. This should only need to be done once as it remembers the mode but obviously you can change modes at any power up. I will say that I found the Nano Kontrol software failed to work originally. Searching the forums I found videos on KZbin saying there is a limit of 10 midi devices on windows PCs. Once you exceed this (even if you are no longer using those old devices) you can have issues adding new ones. If you still can't get anywhere after following my instructions above, I suggest looking at those vids as I had to do this to get the Nano operating at the beginning. If none of this works I apologise for wasting your time. Perhaps an email to Korg support?

Thanks for your time and explanations ! I was in touch about the start mode and number of midi devices. I don’t know how that was possible, but I finally succeeded with the mapping (with "Mackie controller selected" into Cubase, impossible to work with the "generic controller"), and after many reste of the NK2. I’m not sure that I’m in the correct mode of use as described in most of the procedures, but that’s my need. That’s enough for me. Thank you for taking the time to answer!

I ve searched everywhere but i cannot find a list with all actions and where to find them in the studio. In my case studio set up is not in the macro section, is there a guide with all the sections listed so that i can avoid going through all of them so find out what i need?
@MoonhareStudio
@MoonhareStudio 3 жыл бұрын
I'd stop searching. I'm not aware of any complete list which is infuriating however there is one useful function if you go to Edit》Key Commands there is a search bar. Enter a word(s) and hit the magnifier icon repeatedly to step through all the functions with that word. Might be of some help. I tend to keep the search to one word as it won't find a phrase if it's not exactly correct. On your macro query you'll only find stock macros or ones you have programmed (see my programming macros vid). You can find studio setup in the key commands list under Devices (Studio)》Studio Setup. Unlike my macro this will only open the Studio setup, not TOGGLE it on and off. I'm setting up a new laptop at the moment so don't have access to my macros yet but if you're interested I could post the macro at a later date.

@@MoonhareStudio Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed answer, It helped a lot. I found the the command and key commands page is very helpful. As you said putting in on macros only opens it without being able to close it again, while if i route it from "device" it will toggle it on and off. Is there a way to make it work it in the same way? Is it kind of sad that there is no list for those commands though, being new to this I don't know what a lot of them do and I'd like to learn without going trial and error lol. Steinberg gives you a very generic explanation on their website that is not useful at all. Anyway... that's how it is I guess :)

I've just disassembled my setup to install a new laptop so difficult to check at the moment but as soon as I'm up and running I'll look into this for you and see if it works. Cubase 8.5 is not that different to 10.5 so I think any solution on mine should work for you.

@@MoonhareStudio I figured it out in a way; well for using Nano Kontrol as a Generic Remote in Cubase, after the desired assignment I clicked Export button and saved the setup on my PC. Now it comes as default settings in Cubase each time I run it. But I have another issue with Nano Kontrol (I am not alone with the issue as I've seen it on web and some forums); 1. In Cubase even if "never reset chased controllers" and "chase not limited to part boundaries" are checked in the Preferences, Cubase still resets the controllers on stop. Unchecking "Reset on stop" doesn't help it. 2. When starting playback, it doesn't trigger the CC value until it changes, so lets say I've had a passage where I've used the modwheel and currently isn't using it, I'd need to retrigger the modwheel when playback is started again, otherwise it will continue with CC1 value 0.

@MoonhareStudio
@MoonhareStudio 4 жыл бұрын
No reason why not as long as the plug in accepts either midi learn (for on the fly controlling) or has CC numbers for the various parameters. My word of caution would be it can sometimes be more trouble to do it this way than just use your mouse. Check out my vid on using the Qcon Pro X for controlling plugins which is arguably much better set up to do this kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHmaiaCAlLOif9k

How do you get the transport button lights to function properly on the nanoKontrol2? If I press play on the unit, it only lights up whilst pressed.
@MoonhareStudio
@MoonhareStudio 5 жыл бұрын
To be honest when I have it in CC mode I have not been able to get the play and record LEDs to stay on. I tried setting the button behaviour to TOGGLE instead of MOMENTARY but then it wouldn't STOP correctly with the stop button. If you boot up in DAW mode it works as expected so I suspect this is a functionality glitch. If anyone finds a solution I'll post it in a future vid.
