I have a poly 61 and this one of the best demo videos I've seen. You've inspired me to jump back into programming this thing. Some of those sounds I didn't even know you could make.

Always been one of the most underrated of all analogue synths. This gem can stand next to a minimoog or JP8 easily. The electro basses this baby can put out are killer.

next to a Minimoog? Haha... you never had a Minimoog or JP8, did you?
@fender100010010 жыл бұрын
+Synthesizer Home had a JP8. It was great but LIMITED and unreliable. The Moog is great but again limited. And they both have tuning reliability issues. In the RIGHT HANDS. A poly61 and a DX7 which I champion. Will more than match them. And are far more reliable and flexible especially the DX7...

PROJECT DX What? JP8 more limited than a Poly-61 ?? Haha.. In contrary... It's not about limits, it's the sound... if you put Poly-61 and Jupiter 8 on the same quality level, you don't deserve a Jupiter. Seriously, I don't believe you ever thouched them (moog and JP) in real.

Synthesizer Home Its about THE PERSON using them. I have gotten sounds out of a DX7 For example no one realized were possible. I had a JP8 for 7 years. It could do some great sounds no question. But it couldnt touch the sonic palette of a DX7 especially. A poly61 could live with it. WITHOUT THE TUNING ISSUES. You just never had a poly61 and knew how to program it PROPERLY. Because when you do like a DX7. It destroys all the myths. And overrated thinking on big expensive unreliable synths like the JP8.

PROJECT DX the DX7 has a completely different sound than analog synths.o I have a DX7 and I programmed a lot of sounds. And yes, I have a Poly-61 (see my vids where I program them live), and know how it compares to other synths like Juno-60, Prophet-600 or even a DX7. It's fact that FM synthesis is harder to program, it needs a different programming approach and has a completely different sound palette. And yes, although the sonic pallette of FM may be bigger, it's also fact that analog sounds are more in fashion today than DX style sounds. It has NOTHING to do with myths. You must be blind not to see that. But I admit that the DX7 is a great synth (one of my favourite digital synths), but it can not compete with the WARMTH of analog, and easy operation like on a JP8. And if your analog synth is working, you don't have tuning troubles.

that quirky squarish -sounding second DCO adds a lot of character to that synth. I think the filter is great tho

Nice. I love those sounds in the beginning. This is why I love synthesizers from the early 80's and late 70's. :) Great job. If I could subscribed again I would. Keep up the great work and check out my tunes when you get a chance. :) Later, Sam. :)

I love mine! Just picked up last week from a great KZbin artist. I haven’t printed the Manuel yet? Can you tell me how to save a patch?

If you ever make another P61 video, it would be great to have an OVERHEAD view so we can see your editing of the parameters etc. Well done though!

Fantastic. How did you make that sound in the beginning? Was there a specific setting or buttons you pushed? At first listen, I thought you were playing a cover of the opening song for the movie soundtrack "Drive" (2011). Very cool. Soundtrack. I recently finished a script that I intend to produce. I am composing the soundtrack for it. :) Thanks for the video. KrisKemp.com BicycleDays.com

Would you recommend buying one of them if I'm not too proficient with programming synths? I love the sound but I'm afraid that I'll get overwhelmed and just not use it at all.
@alphacodesynth3 жыл бұрын
In contrary , this is probably the simplest instrument you can get. Very easy to use as it has only a handful of parameters to play with and no hidden menus.

Thanks for a quick response. Then I'm definitely getting it!

Is there any external programmer you could control it with? It sound really great but I'm afraid I won't have the patience to program it from the panel, and 64 patches isn't much :/
@alphacodesynth4 жыл бұрын
It has barely maybe 30 parameters to control and has no MIDI , its a very simple synth and 64 is plenty as sound diversity is not its strong point.

If only it had a Dial, or endless knob to control parameters.
