yes you should be able to, using a similar method instead of playing the pattern in, you can record a pre-existing sequence, let us know if it works for you.

hi, I cant seem to get the volca beats sequencer synced with ableton live. I have it set up through the ext inst and can sequence via daw but the the voca sequencer is horribly out. the only way i can get it to sync is to drop buffer size down to 14. Ive done the latency set up tutorial and concluded that i need 1.54ms of driver error on 128 samples but this has no effect. Also, hitting play on ableton triggers the volcas sequencer but upon stopping ableton, the volca continues to play reverting back to its internal clock automatically, any help would be very much appreciated.
@briansansone9 жыл бұрын
alistair elliman Try not using the external instrument rack, and just using the midi preferences set up within ableton. Go to the prefernces window, and then click to "midi/sync" tab. look at the bottom half of the page where the available midi ports are listed , find the midi OUTPUT the volca is running on (which specific midi interface the voca is plugged up to), and make sure the "track " , "sync" and "remote" buttons are turned on. The track button allows you to see that interface on your track output selectors, the sync allows ableton to sync with the volca, and remote allows for midi cc messages(which may be of no use for waht you are trying to do) . Now open a midi track for your volca, select the particular output the volca is running on in the "midi to"selector. You should be able to now play the volca's sounds from ableton using a controller or a midi clip. Make sure that sync button is on and see what happens. And maybe the "remote button" will send a stop message to the volca so it stops running, instead of reverting to its clock. you'll obviously have to run the volca's audio on another track to be able to here and record the synth. Let me know if all this crap I came up with actually works!

hello. thanks for the tutorial. i have a.question. now you have created a midi clip take the sound from the volca. if for example i put 16 midi clip in the arrangiament view, can i do some automations from the synth and see them working and writed in ableton ? thanks so much

It doesn't write midi automation from the volca, because there's no midi out. Volca is not a midi controller. However, any midi automation in the clip that is supported, will be executed by the Volca. There is a midi implementation chart on Korg's website.

@kitespongan10 жыл бұрын
same here!
@detroitmachine173110 жыл бұрын
Kites Pongan I managed to fix it :)) Basically you need to set the korg volca beats to midi channel 10, and also do the same in ableton live using the external instrument. You should then be able to trigger the volca beats in ableton. I spoke to a pro audio friend of mine who told me about this and apparently its a legacy setting that korg always use. Pathetic of korg to think everybody would automatically know this, I certainly didn't! Also the video posted above is misleading and does not go into this at all which made it even more confusing for me! Let me know how you get on.
@kitespongan10 жыл бұрын

You can play it with just a Midi cable, but to record the Volca's audio, you need to route it's audio back in to Ableton. You need a souncard with inputs for this.

Hi. Great video, but I have a question. When I follow the Volca instructions and select a Midi Channel by holding 'Memory' and switching on the unit, the Voca only allows me to select midi Channel 16. Everything works fine in channel 16, but does my Volca have a fault in it? It has no problem jogging through the other 15 midi channels but always settles on Channel 16! Very annoying.. any advice?

I guess it is because, when you don't connect them to ableton, you use them at half the normal speed to have twice more step in the internal sequencer;

@dantelighter947010 жыл бұрын
He seem to prefer the sound of it, so it was a personal decision. You're free to keep the kicks from the Volca of course.
Knavor Plo you can record via cable, but midi is much more accurate since basically it's the software that plays your notes through it, and you got perfect tempo on your pattern

Gianluca Ariotti Noob here; with a midi cable you're actually able to record the sounds from the Volca directly into the DAW?
@dantelighter947010 жыл бұрын
Albin H-L MIDI doesn't carry audio information, it essentially carries notes to be played by any instrument. Therefore, you'll be using DAW to sequence these notes and have the instruments receive that information, then perform as you sequenced it.

Hi. I Have problem with Volca Beats. I don't have any sound from volca in my DAW. I use focusrite saffire 6 and i plug cables in rear panel of my audio interface like this : midi cable and 1x3.5mm stereo jack plug - 2x 6.3mm mono jack plug. All the same as in the video. I checked it in 3 DAWs (FL studio, Bitwig, Ableton) and nowhere is any sound from volca. I set in ableton all the same as in the video but still no sound. Im sure my audio interface works becouse when i plug studio monitors (cables : 6.3mm mono jack plug - 6.3mm mono jack plug) in the same place in my interface audio it work. Where is problem ?
