thanks so much, great patch and an amazing way of understanding the operators and envelopes for someone who is just starting with the volca fm

Building that patch alongside that video just proves how much frequencies are lost when the video is uploaded on KZbin, damn that bass is mean! and is shows when you start shouting "YES" at around minute 9. Amazing videos and tutorials, and an even more impressive tool, simply in love with synthmata. Cheers from a fellow musician and computer scientist.

Thanks Joe! Glad you like both the patch and synthmata. And yes, the "YES" was an involuntary reaction to BIG VOLCA BASS!

Loved it when you shortened the decay stages of operators 5 and 6! It became a snappy ebm bass instantly! The algorhythm you picked is great too 2 distinct layers within one patch!

I didn't care for the patch this time around but thanks for another informative video. Requesting the next video be a "choir" patch. That or a lead patch. Thanks.

I pretty much only use this for plucked, bell-y leads... I'm obviously really missing out. If only there were room for more patches. Though the FM2 doubles that

How do I get Synthmata to show sliders instead of knobs?
@OscillatorSink Жыл бұрын
Short answer: you can't, I changed them to knobs now so that you can see more information at once. It's functionally the same page, just laid out differently (hopefully better) But if you can code a little: Medium answer 1: if you download the code for the site from github.com/synthmata/synthmata.github.io and you don't need support for the Volca FM 2 or any of the new copy/paste features, you can revert bank the most recent commit and that will leave you with the old version of the site Medium answer 2: if you download the code for the site, you might just be able to remove the function call to "knobify" in init function - I suspect that the layout will be very cramped so you'd also have to edit other stuff (CSS mostly) to make it usable (but I haven't tested this).

What do I need to use this software to program my Volca FM?
@OscillatorSink3 жыл бұрын
A USB to midi interface (and midi cable). If you have an audio interface which has MIDI, you're probably good to go, otherwise, something like the Roland UM-ONE mk 2 is a good bet.

can I use a USB IN-OUT MIDI Interface Cable Converter to get this patch on my FM?
@OscillatorSink6 жыл бұрын
Yes, although some of the really cheap ones don't pass sysex data correctly so they might not work.
