is that side chain achieved as of a result of processing the samples with the Volca, or is it just how the sample already sounds?

The samples were compressed together before, then recorded separately and uploaded into the Volca Sample. A bit of mastering on top of that after the jam and that's it!

Just plug the headphone output of the Volca Sample on the mic input of your computer, launch a record program, press record and play on your Volca!
