Just got a new Volca Sample 2 (with USB), so this is very useful to me. I can confirm that this trick still works on the new version, with the latest 1.01 firmware, as of Feb.11/2021. Subscribed. Thanks for posting all the great Volca tips. Best wishes for your continued success :-)

This is brilliant. For those who were on the fence about what drum machine under $200 to go with - this makes a very convincing argument. It's much more than just "a drum machine." Cheers!

It really is. Some of the most fun I've had with synths was figuring out how to use the limitations of this wicked box to create full tracks with bass, beats and melody. I feel out of all the Volca's, this one can do it all at once :)

yes ! thank you, very useful, this This multipializes the capabilities of the V. sample, from a "groove box " to a drone tool, I mean A lot if you conider you can have your memories for some rytmics patterns and then have the opotunitiy to switch into drone field when required in your live set, Makes possible a session with much more nuances. Thank you again for sharing this .Like !

what a find! that is really awesome can't wait to check it out. if you motion record pitch data on a part, it will affect the decay tails of a note even if it's not triggered at that particular step... combining with the looped drone could be interesting..

Awesome tip bro! I just bought the machine today and like drone tecno dub sounds. I have a question: what about the sounds that come with the app, have you tried or are they good enough?

Hello. I tried to do what you have shown and my loop lasts only 10 seconds as normal...What possibily did i do wrong? I have the Volca Sample OK GO edition, i don't know if that is the problem...
@Schtang8 жыл бұрын
Hi! make sure that you have an empty step sequencer and that the decay is not set to full, once you cue the sound then quickly set it to full straight away. I'm not sure if they fixed this bug for the Ok GO edition sorry :)

@LittleMusicBoxes5 жыл бұрын
How did you figure that out? Do you think it's a hack, or was that intentionally designed into the system by Korg?
@Schtang5 жыл бұрын
Little Music Boxes [ Korg Volca ] I discovered it by pure accident just kicking around with looped sounds. I showed it to the UK Korg staff (engineer, product designer, social media rep etc) and none of them had any idea about it, maybe it was intentional but if their own staff don’t know then 🤷🏼♂️

Hmmm it was a long time ago but a lot of the drones were made using Sample 84, with the pitch turned way down, the hi cut filter turned way down and lots of other tweeking of the parameters. I have not yet uploaded any of my own samples to my Volca

Kenneth Baker with the help of a few tutorials online and a bit of practise it’s super easy - not too many parameters and all of them are pretty straightforward. Might take a while to pick up the hidden features and nuances but making beats would be very easy :)

As far as I know, it's not possible :) When I found this little trick everyone on the Volca forums started to tinker with theirs and tried to find something weird like this, but yeah, you can't do the same thing by tweaking the Decay button on the AMP envelope of the Volca Bass
