This is not typical Korn. This feels like a completely different take on their formula. Even after 13 soon to be 14 albums in and despite a few bad albums they may have put out, these guys haven't lost their edge. In fact, they regained their mojo ever since The Serenity Of Suffering.

For sure. I've been rediscovering Korn lately and started listening to their newest stuff. I really enjoyed Serenity of Suffering but The Nothing blew me away. This song and and The Forgotten have made this newest album a must buy day one for me. I'm so impressed with their newest work, I think it holds up with their old stuff(some of their songs on The Nothing are among my favorites and are on repeat) which dominated my playlist when I was young. BTW love to see you rockin my favorite Disturbed album for your PFP, good taste.

I thought The Paradigm Shift (first album head was back), was a big step in the right direction. It did feel like a paradigm shift, a new life for the band. TSOS was a great album with classics on there and the Nothing was unbelievable. I was so happy with both albums. I’m really looking forward to Requiem. It almost feels like Korn can do no wrong at the moment. We shall see.

Started listening to these guys early in life thanks to my uncle. I’m only 26 but I have endured drug addiction since a young age. At 14 I got hooked on opioids & have struggled ever since to heal. It’s a slow life long process, but I’m making progress. Glad to know Korn is doing the same 😎

Paradigm Shift is a great album to deal with that stuff. It is literally about his drug addiction, I know people don't really like it but it is good.

@@MisterKnowItAll3 You're probably not reading through all of this, but here we go. This man is just a korn fan enjoying the old sound, who's a bit dissapointed with the direction they've headed to. He's not the only one. I like the new sound of korn, but everytime I listen to older music, I feel like the newer albums get blown out of the water. I like the new albums, I love the old albums. And the drumming of Silveria (Yeah I'm still bitchin about silveria after 15 years) is really funky and groovy, it feels like he plays with you and the sound while listening to his drums. Everytime you expect a tone, he hits a completely different unexpected tone which sounds even better than the expected one, which makes a funy and unexpected drum style. While the guitars set the mood of the song, and then the instruments seem like they're nearing the end of the song and BAM, breakdown time. Every rythm you heard before now comes all together into one, more intense version during the breakdown. The funk of David is still there, with the same tones just with even more unexpected tones, and he's slapping the drum to death, the riff of the guitars get more intense and everything comes together, accompanied by the breakdown vocals of Davis. The newer songs do not have this, and thats my issue with it. I pretended a long time to like Ray Luzier and the new sound, but I can't pretend no longer. David fit way better, though he was missing the rhytm sometimes with his lack of precision. Sometimes you still get that amazing riff, like in Paradigm shift its still alive, some songs on the Nothing and a few great ones on The Serenity of Suffering aswell. But I miss that real sound and creativity. I'm not trying to roast the new albums, just giving a well built critique on it. And no, I'm not getting "The fuck out of here" because I do not like it, because me, just like Ryan Loughran miss the old sound, we do not bitch about the new sound, we're missing the old sound.

@@ralfraggeldraf5787 Korn is a band that's always changing their sound, they even got into dupstet. They dont even care if you like it or not they do what they love and every year they experiment with new sounds and every album is different than the other. Old fans complain that they change their sound but they fail to realize thats what made Korn a famous band. They created nu metal by changing the sound of metal. They said one of the albums they enjoyed the most was path of totality (the dupsted album) true Korn fans doesn't complain about their changes. Of course you can decide if you like it or not but don't think your opinion is a fact. Becuase in fact this band is improving and changing every single year. So stay if you like it, get out of here if you don't. Its simple.
@ralfraggeldraf57873 жыл бұрын
To be clear I'm no "OG fanboy" discarding all new albums. I've got every album in my playlist, I really do. But please do not define a true korn fan as someone who likes anything they come up with, since you still gotta have your own opinion at the end of the day. Its okay to like some more than others, and do not feel like its an obligation to like every album equally just because you're a Korn fan. I like listening to all albums, including new ones, which is why I do not leave and why I care to give this critique in the first place. I'm not the guy only liking the first three albums, I think they did a fantastic job with see you on the other side for example, or take a look in the mirror. Love those albums, but I feel the drums have been out of place since Ray Luzier joined, not because Ray Luzier sucks, but because the songs he plays aren't fitted for his style. I hate listening to blind live in 2021 because of the extremely fast drums. However, I think The Nothing is an example of a great album because of Rays drums, because his drums fit nice on those songs, just not on the older songs. You should try and search some shows from 2004, just to take a look yourself. Notice the drums, and the guitars having those really weird unexpected tones, that somehow sound amazing. And they refer to a lot of other tones and riffs earlier in the song, but twice as intense the second time, which is whats really the art. And I just kinda miss that nowadays. It ain't about the style, style has always changed. What hasn't changed until 2006 were those unexpected tones and work of art, maintaining the same funky and unexpected style, while changing their complete sound is the epitome of Korn. The change of sound is what they're known for, while keeping the style. I must add, they did a good job on some songs of Serenity of Suffering and Paradigm shift on this topic. But after all, the band is not making music for me personally, they're making it because they enjoy making it. And as long as thats the case, I'm totally fine with it. Like you said, you can always bail if you don't like the newer sound at all.
