Covid did take a toll on his potency when singing live, no raspiness, sometimes no growls. I love his work to death and I will always admire how he continues singing like this, considering he is asthmatic and Covid probably exhausted much of his respiratory system. He is an amazing musician.

Jonathan has been asked how come he doesn´t use the scatting on every album since it´s kind of his signature. He said that he doesn´t want to overuse it otherwise people would get sick of it. Same with the bagpipes, he tries to not overuse them either. I think I agree with him on that note since it´s always a treat when he uses the scatting and/or plays the bagpipes and I think it has to do with him not using the bagpipes/scatting on every record.

It sounds like the intro to the first album...almost like it was Fieldy's farewell in music form...it just feels strange to me how he opens up the first album with a riff similar to that one and now he has left the band. They say he needs a break and that he's welcome to come back but you never know, maybe he's done for good...

Korn is a band that, in my opinion, has aged gracefully. Not all of their songs hit the mark (they've even stated their regret about that... problematic Fred Durst collab), but they're willing to experiment and push their sound... And their lyrics hit as hard as ever. They're not my favorite band (While She Sleeps and Northlane take up that roster), but I have nothing but respect for them.

Fieldy is on this record (they finished recording in April last year and he went on a break in June ) but it is true that we don´t get to hear him live, at least for now. I have high hopes that he will be back in the band sooner rather than later. He hasn´t been gone for a year and I think the band will at least offer him what they offered Head when i wanted to leave and that was playing on the records but he doesn´t have to be on tour with them or do any promotional stuff. Of course Head declined at the time but he came back nearly 8 years after he left. 😄

"Both Munky and Head did confirm that despite his hiatus from the band, Fieldy did play on "Start the Healing," as well as the entire upcoming album Requiem, which will be out Feb. 4, 2022." Played on the album, not touring.
