There was a whole scene here, with Deftones being from Sac, and then you had Sublime, No Doubt (they were good once upon a time) down in Socal, it was just a whole scene, especially with Bay Area hip hop exploding Too Short E 40 Mac Dre it was a good time to grow up in the 90s

Slight difference of meaning there. As I said, a very minor, persnickety correction. I was an English major. I can't help it. Sorry.

I think the thing that kept Korn's head above the water, was they were authentic and original. Most of the shit that didn't age well, is the Limp Bizkits and the PODs that followed their explosion. All Jnco and wallet chain mofos that latched on. Even Korn got a little lost in their way in the mid 2000s. They lost Head and David during a slump in their popularity, and I think the band were quite shaken by that. Not to mention Jon came close to dying around that time, even having to sit out on that tour. That's kind of why I overlook Untitled. It's got some good ideas on it, but Korn was basically 3 guys at that point, and they weren't exactly in a good place in their lives. I think Head returning was the best thing that happened to the band. I'm not saying he was the only thing that made them good, but it's like he was that thing that was missing. His energy and his playing, which made the rest of the band play better and seem better mentally. I'm not trying to say Korn never lost their popularity. Even when they weren't hitting the charts, they still filled the arenas. I as a Korn fan will always support and love this band. We Korn fans are all different in style and appearance, but we all somehow relate on many levels.

@LeadMe2TheBliss Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisJohnson1988 Absolutely. Head is the mastermind in the studio and just has a knack for writing some of the best riffs. I'd go as far as saying he is probably the best nu metal guitarist of all time. Only ones that may compare to him are Steph Carpenter and Wes Borland but I'd say Head is even better than those 2! I think Munky has more on stage confidence than Head though. He may be a better live guitarist, but Head is that secret ingredient that they absolutely need in the studio or it just won't truly feel like a classic Korn album.
@joeyferguson840 Жыл бұрын
@@LeadMe2TheBliss I agree with alot you mentioned there. I met Munkey once, the whole group actually. I always envied Munkey and my second guitar I ever purchased was a 7 string Ibanez RG series 7620 that had a $999.99 price tag. I even purchased a Mesa Boogie 4x12' cab with a Nomad head. I loved their sound back then so much I incorporated some of it into my creative process. Inspiration in writing. We all have our inspirations. My main one was Dimebag, obviously always a popular choice & J. from White Zombie. Back to concurring with you, I will say as far as that category of nu-metal guitar goes, there's not a whole lot of competition......at least much talented competition anyway. That style of play is hands down the easiest style to learn to play on guitar in my opinion. Grunge might be a bit simpler of a style maybe. Like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Blind Melon. However, Alice in Chains isn't as simple as those others, some tracks are more complex but certainly not intricate. STP isn't easy but it aint hard either. Unfortunately, most bands do mellow out the older they get. I think Korn has made a real effort in trying to keep that edge and they have. It's just for me, the first record was just that good it's hard to top although they almost did in LIP. Twist got on tape, lots of raw power in that record. I just miss the older Korn, just like I miss the older Deftones. I miss raw early Mudvayne, early Slipknot. I first saw the knot play to a crowd of, about 50 of us. A unique show cause there was so little of a crowd back then it made it all more intimate of an experience cause your getting alot of feedback & reaction personally, you react and they react to you. Not a huge crowd where you can't fish 1 face out of the sea of people. It made it more special. I always treasure that experience. Dems was the days and growing up really blows sometimes.......unless your filthy rich that is.

Well I think from SYOTOS on was them kind of distancing themselves from that sound, it's interesting to see such a strong return to it. I almost wonder if them doing their entire first album live again didn't have a big impact on how this one turned out. I think this may be the biggest shift in sound Korn has ever had between two albums, TPS is so technical and clean sounding, while this is basically the complete opposite as far as Korn goes. I'm very interested in finding out where this album goes, I hope they have a good variety this time around and it's not all songs that sound like they were made for radio - like their previous three albums were. I feel like SYOTOS and Untitled having mixed reactions really scared them into playing it safe artistically and this song is a big departure from that, I just hope the rest of the album is too.

SYOTOS was OK. A little too drastic a depature. But admirable experimenting. Untitled sucked. Their worst album by far besides that dub step shit, i aint even counting that one. Korn III was decent but they missed Heads song writing and guitar still. Paradigm Shift was too clean, too safe in moments, and too electronic at times still. But like half the record was good. Korn: 10/10 classic Life is Peachy: 8.5/10 Really good Follow the Leader: 9.5/10 classic Issues: 9/10 great Untouchables: 9/10 great TALITM: 7.5/10 Solid/decent SYOTOS: 6/10 okay Untitled: 4/10 not good Korn III: 7/10 decent Paradigm Shift: 6.5/10 okay I hope they can eclipse Korn III and TALITM on this one. This song sounds like 2001. Closer to Untouchables but not quite there, some left over creepy sounds in the verses that are reminiscent of Issues. But the guitars and chorus sound close to Untouchables.

It is indeed, the song called Tension that's all I need to say... Bands have to change and evolve together Korn simply can't make 20 years of albums like follow the leader or their first album. If people don't like TPOT it doesn't really bother me, it's their loss but the thing that gets me is when people talk about that album and say oh, Korn just did that dubstep shit to stay relevant... LMFAO, Yeah I'm sure Korn just sit's around and thinks of ways to be popular again.......

Love this song! Thank you Korn, your music has and still helps me try and deal with my anxiety. My anxiety can be extremely debilitating at times, but your music helps me, so thank you so much to you all 🖤🖤 I've recently been suffering with anxiety and panic attacks, and I find listening to Korn really helps to distract me and stop the attacks. I've never had anxiety or panic attacks until around July last year and they are so horrible and scary, I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. I'm 44 and my divorce is nearly finalised and he turned out to be an asshole, hence why I'm divorcing him! I feel like I'm all alone and once my parents are gone, what's left for me. Thing's are really bad some days, but I do have good days too. Music has saved me, which probably sounds really stupid but it has helped a lot. Sorry for my really long comment.
