All jokes about their characters aside, I really get how they feel. I have a lot of colleagues, turned friends, who work all over the US and in China, who in the past I've only talked to via zoom and slack. When we have finally gotten to meet up it was a lot of fun with none of that "new person" conversation starters. The most fun was when we had our engineer counterparts in China over to the US years ago and went to a tiki bar with them. There are no language barriers when everyone is drunk on rum and wearing pirate hats.
