The thing about Bolin being a light on his feet earth bender is that his brother Mako is a fire bender. They’ve both got aspects of both styles within them. Mako is probably more stubborn and unyielding than most fire benders because he’s got some earth bending ancestors too. Bolin’s style might be reminiscent of Iroh learning from water benders how to redirect lightning.

The airbending movement she pulled off at the end was lined up from before. Mako was doing the same thing when he tired his opponents out in the first match Korra watched. In the fist episode, it was made abundantly clear that Korra was constantly watched and never left alone. There was always a white lotus within frame when she asked to leave the fortress to hang out with Naga. She was basically exiled to live in a fortress. If Air is the element of freedom then what freedom did she have to be able to connect air with. The writers wrote her to be a bending prodigy and she grew up only focusing on mastering all elements. She's a hardworker and excelled at every level of bending and martial art. Sooo her picking up those airbending moves is actually pretty on par for the character development. She's the absolute opposite of Aang. Aand struggled to pick up bending and martial arts beyond air bending. So I think its good to keep in mind on who Korra is and what her development might be.

I just think it’s so cool that since ATLA that people that were from other nations got together and made families, and you see it with Bolin and Mako, a firebender and earthbender brother. Something that was not a thing 70 years ago in this world.

Korra’s personality is very similar to a earthbender, ( headstrong, self sufficient in a survival stance, adaptive) even though she is a waterbender. That’s why air is so hard for her. Most avatars personality’s are alined with their elements, that’s why their hardest is the opposite of their home element.

When Korra started using the airbending techniques to dodge the attacks, my thoughts were that she was able to start to partially unlock her spiritual side and open up the connection with the knowledge from the past avatars that allowed her to all of a sudden have the know-how to do that.

Korra struggles the most with airbending bc it is the element of freedom. However she was locked away most of her life. Even when she was finally free tenzin had her kept away at the temple
@aitanafear544 жыл бұрын
I always thought Korra implementing the technique was more subconscious than intentional - more like her Avatar instincts kicking in rather then "hey let me use the leaf move." But I love your interpretations! And also happy to be joining the Patreon gaang :) great vid!

Found this on the internet: The Oregon Zoo's red panda cub officially has a name. Meet Pabu! When red panda Mei Mei gave birth to her cub in June, the zoo says keepers handed naming honors over to the Oregon Zoo Foundation, which raffled off a chance to help “dub the cub.” RELATED| Oregon Zoo's red panda cub needs a name, and you could help!

With regards to why Korra started using her air bending skills, I always felt like it was because it was extremely familiar to her because of all her past lives that had learnt those moves, especially her last life as aang, where these moves were literally instinctual to him!! I really really enjoyed that detail 😭😭

As far as the modern bending goes alot of comes from living in a city and having confined spaces. Especially for earth bending which could cause the most destruction in that environment. And Bolins light on your feet style is best suited for an environment where you cant just throw up big walls to defend a position and stand your ground. They only have the discs they need to be more mobile to make up for the lost of their defensive capabilities

If you're done with LOK, can you react to The Dragon Prince? It's an amazing show like ATLA, the voice actor of Sokka is in here and one of the creator of ATLA created this show.

3:22 nice job, Kenny, for noting that. To me, Korra was like a slightly-kinder version of Azula, she was all about imposing her ideals onto, and frequently against, others up until mid-season 4, also her "who's side R U on?" was a reincarnation of "they would've all betrayed me ... just like May and Ty Lee"

Aang was teached and raised like any other airbender kid, playing with the other air kids, meaning he was a regular airbender and therefore Earth bending was the more difficult. Korra hasn't been treated like a regular waterbending kid, since she was 4, the white lotus has been watching her every move, overprotecting her and restricting her ever since (in fear of a red lotus attack), making her rebel and stand her ground more, making her into an earthbender type personality instead of a regular waterbender kid like Katara and Sokka. Making her have more problems with Air

The Gaang's kids are all an interesting study in relationships with who they came from - how they're similar, how they differ and why. I think you'll have a lot to reflect on as you get further into it.
@itsturniptime36994 жыл бұрын
I find it interesting how Bolin and Toph have very different bending styles despite both being Earth Benders. Toph was all about standing her ground, being an unstoppable force or immovable object. Bolin prefers to be light on his toes, focusing on dodging and smaller pot shots. It makes sense considering Bolin is on a sports team, but it’s interesting to notice.
@TrinityJoy4 жыл бұрын
The falling into Airbender techniques always seemed like a reflex to me. She never connected with previous avatars but the knowledge is still there and it just flowed through as all she thought was dodge Also Toph while being grounded was a much more fluid bender then other earth benders

Aang couldn't have taught his grandkids airbending since he died before any of them were born. And it wouldn't make sense since korra is older than all of the airbender kids, so that means aang died like 6/7 years before the oldest (jinora) was born, since korra is 17 and jinora is 10/11

Bolin is easily my favourite character over the course of Korra, his latter season arcs are really good and he's just so much fun! You're also spot on with Tenzin's voice actor! I think I added a few other famous voice actors that are in Korra so far: Lance Henriksen played the goggled villian at the end of the last episode (famous for playing Bishop in Aliens, one of the detectives in Terminator 1) and Mindy Sterling plays Lin Beifong (Frau from Austin Powers among so many other roles)

@23:22 Pro-Bending is a contemporary style based off of classical technique. It's the difference between classical music and Katy Perry. Still music, but one is way more modern, uses classical technique, but makes super different results. Korra never learned how to pro-bend. She learned from the White Lotus, Katara, etc. She has the classical down, she's now learning the modern style as well.
