Best budget synth of 2019, in my opinion. The first batch have white LEDs, the later batches have multicoloured ones. This is great synth for basses, leads and SFX. If you've got one and want to learn the different sounds it can make, look on the internet for the original Arp Odyssey manual and patch sheets. This synth is an improved repro of the original 3 Odyssey models that sold between 1970-1981.

Second button in the effects-section is also for TAP-TEMPO! Super easy to sync delay effect with arpeggiator or sequencer. Plus when the sequencer is synced via midi the tempo/gate slider works as a clock divider/doubler - awesome!! Love this synth! And this is a good presentation! :)

The arp odyssey is one of the vintage synths that has been on my bucket list for many years. I’m so pleased with this Behringer odyssey that I’m beyond words. I love the old dx7 feel and speed of the Keybed and the controls make sense once you play it a bit. Awesome range of tones. Highly recommend!

I bought a Beh Ody and it sounds so thin compared to a real one. Seriously terrible "clone" and if I were ARP I'd be insulted. I was excited about the coming 2600 but I'm going to pass. I can't imagine 3 of these weak osc sounds much better than 2.

Seems like a fine recreation of this synth. The use of self-oscillation in the filter at 15:15 is heard at the end of Ultravox's 'Artificial Life' from their sophomore album Ha! Ha! Ha! (1977), as Billy Currie used his then-new ARP Odyssey to make some really cutting lead sounds.

I bought the Bodyssey because its all metal and has effects and is a lot less expensive then buying an odyssey from my youth that i will likely need repaired. Oh and the originals and the korg arps are plastic. Just fine but for the price, effects and sturdy build. Behringer was right for me Two totally different machines. But me? I have to use my Behringer Model D and it´s 440 Hz tone as tuner. My Behringer Odyssey will go out of tune from time to time. The FX unit would be much nicer if the synth hade stereo out. Reverb and delay in mono? No thanks. :-)

@@massebassepearpung Yeah. That's perplexing. The delay module has a ping pong option as well - which makes no sense in mono.

Thanks!! I've been using analog and digital synths for 23 years from simple Moogs to crazy menu diving in old Ensoniqs and for some reason this Odyssey just really confused me. So many sliders effecting modulation. When it arrived at my house I couldn't get a simple tone out of it and was convinced it was broken. This video made me wrap my head around the layout. Thanks. My personal favorite vintage synth for sound, versatility, and ease of use and understanding is the Yamaha CS15 with it's two VCFs (both can be LF BF HF), two vcos, two vcas, and lots of routing options. This Odyssey is definitely a completely different thing.

Poly D is a poly synth so if that's important it's the clear winner. Odyssey can only do 2 notes at once. I bought the Odyssey and Model D right before I saw the Poly D. I'll wait a bit and keep watching videos and most likely end up grabbing that too. Behringer's prices are too damn good and it's hard to say no. That 2600 is also tempting me.

Picked one of these up and just wasn't feeling it. Eventually I messed around with my old ARP Axxe and even that single osc vintage synth has a lot more punch to it than the Behringer and Korg "Odyssey" "remakes". I think the Behringer Model D sounds great and stands it's ground next to my vintage Moogs but the Odyssey is definitely way thinner. I ended up getting an original ARP Odyssey MKI instead.
@graphene14874 жыл бұрын
why weren't you feeling it? Needing more detail on this. Someone may read your comment and be swayed by an otherwise unsupported argument.
@VincentPresley4 жыл бұрын
@@graphene1487 I didn't know why but I just felt very bored by it and then, like I said I went back and played a single osc Axxe and even that sounded way better. The Beh Odyssey (and korg) are just thin and weak sounding. Most people will just drown their thin osc, cheap new synths in tons of reverb and think that makes it "fat". I bought 5 Behringer synths this year and sold 4 as quick as I could. Even the Model D (which I originally liked and mentioned in my last comment) wasn't worth keeping. It definitely has more balls than the Beh Ody but ultimately my 2 Osc Rogue Moog sounds way better than the 3 osc D and stays in tune a lot better. Finally I just think these things are fine for first time buyers but they're not great, are not going to hold any value, and based on the build quality I seriously doubt any of this stuff will last very long and certainly not 30 - 40 years.
@graphene14874 жыл бұрын
@@VincentPresley to each their own I guess. I've got a Korg MS10 and the Behringer Crave and I find them pretty equal in sound quality. On the Behringer Odyssey were you using the XLR out? The other outputs aren't at line level, so that could be affected your experience. Moog is nice, but not the end all be all.
@VincentPresley4 жыл бұрын
@@graphene1487 1/4" outs
@graphene14874 жыл бұрын
@@VincentPresley ahhhh that makes all the difference then! The XLR should be primary line out. Some people prefer to buy a xlr to TRS to connect to an interface. Makes a big difference in sound quality. Would've helped if Behringer had pointed this out, but had to go to KZbin for answers.

this thing is lit up like a Christmas tree.. pretty sweet! is there any software for it? to do presets that way?

No way to do presets as there is no way to digitally control the signal path. A good option, however, is to use Korg's Odyssei app on an iPad to create and save presets and then dial them up on the hardware when you need to remember a sound.

"Review" is a word that is often misused on KZbin, as it has come to have a meaning most often synonymous with "demonstration." It is presumptive that a seller wouldn't broadcast fault with the wares he intends to sell. I think nitpicking Kosmic's use of language is fruitless. See there? We can all be critics.
