" COORSTEK " HAS CERAMIC TUBE AVAILABLE.. A 2INCH INSIDE DIAMETER X 18 INCH TUBE IS $119. USD.. SO YEAH ITS ON THE PRICEY SIDE, FOR SURE..UNLESS YOU HAVE A SOURCE FOR THE GIGANTIC FUSE USED IN THE VIDEO..THERE MIGHT BE ANOTHER SOURCE FOR IT, COORSTEK WAS THE 1ST PLACE THAT LISTED PRICES..AND THE 1ST OF A 3 MIN GOOGLE SEARCH FOR CERAMIC TUBE..

DO NOT USE CEMENT!!! holy crap kiss buddy you really need to read these comments people are going to get hurt. Daniel because of the nature of cement and it's tendance to retain water it could exploded not like bomb exploid but it wouldn't be good plus it cannot withstand the temperature need to properly heat metal. Use refractory cement. It's cheap us dollars like 30-50 dollars. If your interested in building a forge there are other sources out there that will explain out what to and what material are need. Please look around and do some studying before building I don't want to see anyone get hurt. But honestly if you just want to try making a knife you don't need a forge a few fire bricks and a mapp torch angle if you have one. a good file and sand paper.

Lovely build, the high temp sealant that's not silicone is it? And isn't insulation wool the same as other thermal blankets, the more you compress it the more it looses it's insulation.

cheap if you already have the parts maybe, where is a normal person gonna get a ceramic tube like that ? nowhere Also tempering can be done in any old oven, even a cheap toaster over, hardening on the other hand (kinda the opposite of tempering) cannot and that is what you were doing, so i would change the title to Heat Treating Electric Furnace
