Ianos Hurricane- The day after - Kefalonia Island

After 4 days without electricity find the time to collect some footage of the day after Ianos Hurricane !
Will follow a video with volunteer work and i hope after that we start again woodturning !!!

I was in Cuddalore India during Cyclone Thane and after witnessing the destruction and disaster, I can only imagine how you all feel. It feels dreadful, but people are amazing and rebuild everything and learn to prepare for better awareness, defense and protection against these things in the future. One wonderful thing that emerges from such disasters is how people come together and reveal the absolute best of humanity. With few exceptions, all former disagreements seem to instantly disappear and helping each other recover happens so naturally. It is very inspiring and helps us realize what is really important in life. .

I was on holiday in Ithaca during this storm. We stayed at Vathy, many boats sunk and local beaches washed away. No electricity for 3 days. The local people were very helpful, particularly the restaurants as they had limited food and no POS connection- we ran a tab and paid when electricity returned. This must have hit the community hard, after a summer season ruined by Covid. A holiday I’ll never forget.

It's not easy to find something good that can come from a storm like this, but, the good that will come from this is seeing people get together and help one another. Was there for 10 days, the storm struck mid way though out holiday. Although frightening the local people and tourists banded together. It makes me weep to see the destruction it caused to our favourite Greek island.

We were in Poros - not so badly hit - no electricity for 3 days. Birds were seeking refuge in our room. Scary. We couldn't get up to Assos as the bridge had been swept away. What with Covid it was a cruel blow to the island. Best wishes - it is our favourite island.

So saddening to see. My sister and brother in law were on holiday in Sami at the time. I was so worried for their safety. They told me how the local people were amazing, and got stuck in to make life as normal as possible as soon as possible. I think the Greek people are amazing and so friendly. I am going to Greece for the 5th time in just over a week. Yamas!x

We were there on holiday. It was the most scariest thing I’ve lived through. We went back this year. It’s the most beautifulest of the Greek islands. And I’ve been to a few! It was a categorised as a cyclone, not quite a hurricane but still devastating to all those involved.

That is awful. We have experienced flooding from hurricanes five times in the last twenty years here in North Carolina. Don't get discouraged, it can all be built back. Hope no lives were lost. Prayers sent your way.

I'm interested in following this further, and I did subscribe. I was hoping for more actual audio from the videos, but with your internet being down, I understand that it was hard to make that available. Also, being totally blind, I listen to videos, hoping for more audio footage to be included with the video, only because it helps me develop a more realistic idea of what took place. If you know of any videos I can listen to that offer more English narration along with audio-inclusive footage, please feel free to let me know if you can by replying to my comment. Hello tha ka a lot for your message my internet is terrible !!! And I have only footage of volunteer work because it was more important to help than go around and watch the disaster with not make anything !!! You can check the link of my friend panagis that I have add to the description ! Have 2 videos there for the hurricane! Is a bout 30 min ! But also with not explaining anything ! This wa the first time that something like that hit the island ! We was not prepare ! Some people not believe it so because of this the let the boats on harbor that was not proper the rest that came to the port of sami was pass the hurricane with just some scratches!!! The rivers flood and and cost also a lot of problem!!! Thanks again from your comment ! If you need any farther details just ask !!

Πολλές πληγές άφησε πίσω του από όσα βλέπουμε. 😥 Ευτυχώς αποφύγατε τα χειρότερα της Καρδίτσας.Αυτές οι πληγές με το χρόνο θα κλείσουν.Κουράγιο δεν το βάζουμε κάτω ο Θεός μας έκανε δυνατούς και συνεχίζουμε. Η μόνη νότα ελπίδας από όλο αυτό η χαρούμενη παρέα στο 1.10 🙂 να δίνει μήνυμα ότι όλα θα γίνουν όπως πριν.

Πραγματικά θα μπορούσε να είναι χειρότερα! Είμαστε τυχεροί γιατί λογο σεισμών τα σπίτια μας είναι πολύ δυνατά! Αλλά όπως και να έχει το πράγμα έγιναν ζημιές! Πραγματικά η χαρούμενη παρέα που διασκεδάζει με το νερό είναι αυτό που σε κάνει να λες έλα πάμε συνεχίζουμε θα τα καταφέρουμε!!!
