Canibus remains one of hip-hop's greatest writers. Dizaster clearly won here, but to discredit a man completely who's been writing some of the most potent, clever verses since the 90s because he can't compete in this format is just biased. Writing great lyrics and being a hardened battle rapper are CLEARLY two very different skills. Dizaster is at the pinnacle of hip-hop as a competitive endeavor. Hats off to the man. Funny you say that because people need to listen to Big Daddy Kane's interview of a few years ago. He explained the difference between freestyling and off the dome. He said that because he's so technical with what he raps about he can't go off the dome but he's one of the best writers of all time not just for himself but for others too. Hopefully Hip-hop heads took note of what Diz said at the end. Some of us are old enough to remember when Canibus couldn't be touched. This can be compared to an All-Star athlete who came out of retirement. You can see that they may still have some of their magic, but they aren't the same as they were in their "prime". Canibus was simply trying to adjust to their way of doing things.. I notice most of these young battle rappers stand sideways & face the audience, but Canibus & Cassidy always faced their opponents while rhyming cause that's how it was originally done. You not even supposed to know who your opponent is. Rap battles were more difficult back in the day & more organic. Now they let you rehearse for 3 weeks smh.. These battle rappers are cut from a different cloth. They are extremely good at memorising their bars and executing them on the day. Dizaster is an absolute pro at this and has bodied many other battle rappers. Canibus isn’t used to this style of rhyming and it showed. I honestly think Canibus did the best he could considering he had no dirt on dizaster probably didn’t even know who he was, meanwhile dizaster had a full understanding of canibus’s past and could pick on that. This was a disaster waiting to happen but I admire Canibus for his efforts nonetheless, I don’t think this ended his career and I still think that Canibus is one of the 5 greatest rappers ever 👍

Most rappers can memorize a rap they wrote in a week or so when they practice fr, battle rappers have months to prepare so that's plenty of time as long as they don't slouch

20 years ago I worshipped brazilian soccer player Ronaldo. Years later he gained weight and looked like big mac. I gave him a chance and didn't judge him and he still scored some goals despite being slow and old for a world class #1 player in da world. As for Canibus: he raps slow, moves slow, thinks slow, and was outclassed by the future Eminem protégé. There is no shame. It's all sweat and tears at the end of the day. How bad do you want it and the distance you are willing to take to defend your title. From 10 years ago till now Diz remains the king of rap battle. As far as I'm concerned he is the future too. I'm routing for him all the way through. But should some other protege surface even 20 years younger I don't care I might route for that guy. I'm a chess player and I routed for Bobby Fisher then Kasparov and guess what now routing for Magnus who is more than half Kasparov's age. He is the Mozart of chess, period. Above all hip hop is new rap battle is new so expect lots of talents to surface through. Furthermore, none of these rap battlers including Diz with their bullying and gun and shooting and killing lyrics amount to anything but zero. All talk. Do I say these movies have no authenticity because the producers never killed anyone. Lol duh my man. No I enjoy the movie same as I enjoy the rap battle show. Diz is the king of wit and he works hard to produce entertaing content multiple syllabing you get lost in his ocean of flow. He dwarfs others. I wanna see future champs like him to see a real battle.
