Damn Lu is on Brock Lesnar levels of no-selling here. That may be a reason for all the stumbles. Part of enjoying Carter's shtick is the wink and a nod playfulness between the battlers, his battles are fun with it and cringe without it. Lu was having none of it and It worked 🤷 Carter was way off balance here. On top of that Lu was motivated to kill here, his 2nd was tip-top tier.

It’s a tournament with $100,000 involved, Carter shouldn’t rely on a shtick that requires willful participation (from his opponent) to be effective. I think that’s a huge part of the problem, Carter is “PLAYFUL” and this is a TOURNAMENT. Lu Cipher didn’t come to play, he came to WIN.

Seems like he consistently writes planning to get crowd reaction so he can play around his awkwardness / the awkward persona and imitate having a more consistent flow? It makes sense for bigger crowds, it's similar to planning out a standup routine, and lots of battle rappers do something similar. It just doesn't work well in a small crowd unless you write to the audience, which would be pretty bad for other reasons IMO. It's a shame, but Carter should've prepared for this differently I feel if he wanted to contend. Small venue means delivery matters a lot more because it's all we really get to see as the digital audience.
