Just my take, but I think Kevin was so respectful to go over her recent work rather than go right for the thing that made her immensely famous, the voice of Lisa Simpson. I saw an old interview with her that she had issues with being known for that mostly, so kudos to Kevin's interview style and professionalism.

Technically, yes though it's more accurate to say that Australia, New Zealand and Canada are members of the British Commonwealth. The Queen is still the official Head of State and each country has a Governor General to represent her. Immigration, schooling and work is easily permitted between the countries.
