Kpop Reaction: Our Dad Listens to Boy Groups! (Ateez, 2PM, &Team, TXT!)

In 2PM's "My House", which came out in 2015, all the guys were different fairytale characters: > Junho -- who is a main vocalist and lead dancer -- is representing the White Rabbit in Alice and Wonderland, which is why you see the bunny. > Taecyeon -- who is the main rapper and a vocalist -- was the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood. > Wooyoung -- who is the the main dancer and a vocalist -- has a poison apple like the evil queen from Snow White, which he is using to tempt the girl into being poisoned by him so he can manipulate her into falling in love with him. > Nichkhun -- who is a vocalist, rapper and the visual of the group -- is Prince Charming from Cinderella and he is standing next to his noble steed, the fancy car. > Chansung -- who is the maknae, a lead rapper and a lead vocalist -- was the Beast from Beauty and the Beast. > Jun K -- who is a main vocalist -- was Romeo from Romeo and Juliet. > And, of course, the girl is Cinderella -- you see her run from the party and leave her shoe on the stairs. Fun fact: Nichkhun is the first Thai Kpop idol, and people have nicknamed him "the prince of Thailand." Hence, why he was Prince Charming in the MV. :D (He's the one that most often has the English lines. Nichkhun and Taecyeon are fluent in English because their families lived in the U.S. for several years when they were growing up.) 2PM is the group that coined the title "Beast Idols", which means they are very athletic, muscular and toned -- they had/have a much more masculine image then the typical boy group when they debuted. Which is why they have a very sexy and manly image as a group. In their early days they were also known for their B-boy skills and for their tricking. A lot of their early songs have choreography where they were doing a lot of tricks and tumbling, which was something new in the world of Kpop, and it made them unique. However, over the years they kind of stopped doing all the tricking in their choreography because they realized that they have to be able to perform these dances on music shows and live in concert, etc. and that meant they had to put a lot of extra training in to make sure they could execute the moves well. I remember in the early days, during their dry-run rehearsals for music shows, they were always falling or messing up and they would take a lot longer to film some of their performances because they were so stunt heavy. 2PM's fandom is named Hottest because 2PM is supposed to be the hottest part of the day. And they were actually created as the counterparts to JYP's ballad boy group 2AM. 2AM's fandom is named I AM because 2AM + 2PM = one day and when combined they become "I AM Hottest." The groups were sort of designed to be the polar opposites of each other as part of their concepts. Check out Wooyoung from 2PM and Bang Chan from Stray Kids teaching Shindong from Super Junior and comedian/host/TV personality Kang Hodong -- best known as a cast member on the variety show Knowing Bros. -- the choreography for "My House," as part of a special summer project they did in 2020 called TTXQ, episode 5 part 1: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6KvfH6ZmLiSoac and part 2: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGecZ5aKaquBmdk. (Each part is less than 15 minutes long.) 2PM debuted in 2008, about a month or so after SHINee, so even though 2PM is a JYP group and SHINee is an SM group, in the early days, 2PM and SHINee appeared on a lot of variety shows together and they were often paired together. So, 2PM and SHINee are pretty close. On a side note: GOT7, the former JYP boy group that debuted in 2014, originally was created to be the junior version of 2PM. So, GOT7 was supposed to take after them, that's why GOT7 debuted with the song "Girls Girls Girls." It is also one of the reasons why GOT7 members Mark and Jackson trained in martial arts stunting and tricks because I think JYP was hoping to replicate 2PM's style and skill set.

Yes, Hottest, since 2pm is supposed to be the hottest time in a day. To balance it, their brother group, is called 2AM, and their songs are mostly beautiful, soulful ballads.

ATEEZ's fandom name is a combination of Ateez + "destiny" so actually the tiny part is pronounced closer to "teeny" or "tinny". 🙂

in &team, maki and nicholas speak english, maki also speaks german ^^ also one of their leaders EJ is korean, they have videos of them doing their korean lessons and EJ taking his japanese lessons. i also recommend road not taken and firework, they have some of the best discography in my opinion.

I also went to see TXT in charlotte a few months ago. Even though I had really bad seats it was a great concert. I didn't really see many comments about &Team so I will tell you a bit about them since they are a new group for you. They are the brother group to Enhypen and their story lines are connected. Enhypen are vampires and &Team are werewolves. 4 of the members were on the show I-Land that formed Enhypen. After being eliminated they participated on another show called The Howling to find the rest of the members for their new group.

I just discovered this channel and watched few videos. First of all dad is really cool and his comments dont sound flat as with other reactors. He clearly knows what he is talking about. Secondly, I am kinda curious what he has to say about 1st and 2nd generation of kpop. Although 2PM is 2nd gen. From 1st gen immediately I have god in my mind. I bet he will love them.

I love 2PM! If you like singing you’ll love their Bsides where they lean more into R&B. From Grown (2013) on most of the songs were composed and written by the members. Very talented musicians looking forward to you reacting to some of their Japanese songs too as they are also one of the most successful kpop groups to debut in Japan too.
