I wouldn't say it's cute tbh. Korean idol culture is different but most prominent thing different than international fans is that you shouldn't be a multi. You have to be loyal to just one group. So going to a concert with someone else's lightstick is like saying "I'm not your fan". It's easier to explain it with the videos here. Mamamoo noticed NCT lightstick. So it's like saying "I'm an Nctizen supporting Mamamoo, not a Moomoo". Aespa asked about Twice lightstick so it's like "I'm a Once supporting you, but not your fan". It's not about respecting/disrespecting idols or something. It's simply about the message you want to give to your faves

(who answered that his best decision was joining mid show) joined their survival show (where Monsta was formed) in the middle of the thing and that caused a lot of dispute and hate towards him because other participants who were there since the beginning of the show and already were loved by fans then got eliminated. I'm not so sure but heard that Joohoney (another Monsta X member) had his IRL friend on the show whom I.M. replaced thus these too were not really warm with each other but then became besties. ALL IN ALL other Monsta X members were like 'ROFL this guy's best decision joining mid show xD' - SORRY for long explanation...
