Without mentioning BTS and being a person that speaks more than one language I can surely say that even if you can communicate in that language you are always afraid in a way to make a mistake and being made fun of. So if a person decides or not to learn a language, more power to them. Personally I think all this hate, bullying and criticism comes from people who only speak one language. Between These 7 guys they speak Korean, Japanese, English, Mandarin Chinese. STOP criticizing them, enjoy their music if you want but DON’T criticize the boys who made a decision on their own to learn another language by the way they pronounce.

I agree I feel that it's part of bts's pool is their ability to convey their message without most of us or understanding Korean and yet they still convey their meaning and their message through there lyrics so obviously with clothes you know with subtitles for me but I've even listened to a lot of their music without subtitles I'm just learning of kpop and BTS over the past few months so I have a lot to learn I'm no way should be even speaking of them other than I believe that they're very very talented seven individual men that have grown up and are maturing as far as their musical content but I have started way back in 2013 and wish I knew about them then I love their older music I seem to be stuck in the wings map of the soul seven top zone right now but again just enjoy the music and that you can just see the work and the dedication cuz they've put into honing their skills individually and has a group as a whole and their videos maybe even the low budget ones from when they were not as popular back in the early debuting years still their message was conveyed in English or Korean and I think again is part of their appeal and the part of the impact that they seem to carry so whether they choose all to be completely fluent in English and have songs all in English or continue to do a little both is commendable either way it seems even here all of us Americans say the northern people talk different than the southern people which we do talk different and have different ways of expressing things and so I would say that people from Idaho would still have a different accent or pronunciation from someone that lives in California just like someone from Boston sounds completely different from like where I live in East Tennessee so there's always going to be hate ful things to be said very sad because I believe they have such a positive message more important things to focus on with their music then or they pronunciating English words

@@carlacase839 if you want to learn more about the boys, what helped me was KZbin, I entered BTS 2013 and then 2014 and so on. Until 2017 which was when I found them. We would only need one anyway. Especially if he's comfortable with it and same goes with the other members, if they want to learn English and they're comfortable with it then go ahead and do that but it's up to the members themselves. That's my opinion anyway. And I agree with Cardy B, if you want to understand their songs in the Korean parts, then just learn Korean, that's what I'm trying to do besides learning Spanish (Español) but even though I don't know a lot of Korean, most of their songs I can sing like I know what I'm talking about because of hearing the song all the time. I wonder if these same people had an issue when BTS did Japanese language songs and recorded some of their Korean songs in Japanese? I don’t remember anyone complaining then. I’m in two minds. I’m not going to complain they did 3 English songs, it’s my language after all and I do appreciate it. However I do feel a little bothered about the fact that they didn’t get a Billboard #1 or a Grammy nomination until Dynamite. LGO did make #1 but only after Dynamite. I’m hoping their future Korean songs will also have the same recognition. They have so many Korean songs that not only deserved Billboard #1, but also Grammys. Makes me a little sad they felt they had to make those English songs in order to crack the US enough to get those achievements. I am hoping it won’t matter from here on out and whatever they decide to do will get a fair shake. For those complaining, I’m sure they are not going full English/Western and the Korean songs are coming back full swing soon. I’d be willing to bet PTD is the last, at least for a while. I don’t particular care what language they sing in. I can read translations on the lyrics so I at least know what the song is about. BTS are always open to trying new things rather than stay within the same genre/style. Right now they are trying English Western mainstream. No crime in that.

My language is neither English nor Korean, nor is it Japanese. And it doesn't matter to me. Just like you, at least I can look up the meaning of their song lyrics or ask someone who understands the language they sing and understands the meaning of the song they sing. Many ARMYs voluntarily interpret it in various languages of their respective countries and share it via the internet. If they don't understand the lyrics of the song or the meaning of the song, they can search on various blogs and channels that are widely shared on the internet. They seem to have forgotten about trying and appreciating. If they really don't like the song, well, listen to another song. Or at least if you want to criticize, at least first understand the content of the song or they are experts in the field of music. otherwise silence is better. I also really wish they were more rewarded with their songs not because they were singing in English. I really wish the best for BTS 💜💜💜💜💜 always Respect for them

If they don’t want to learn English they don’t have to. When they first debuted it was for those who understand/speak Korean. The fact that they decided to cater to those who speak English was nice.

I'm not an ARMY but I love BTS...and yes they are BTS so they should be left alone by these haters and shouldn't be pressured to speak English. They're Koreans and English is not their first language. And them not speaking it fluently actually sounds so cute. Leave them alone!!! BTS please take care of yourselves and stay healthy. Don't let these haters get to you. Love you BTS! ❤

It’s not important for me that BTS speaks English fluently, but learning a few things would be nice because I like to hear their responses from them personally. Plus how Korea’s K dramas is becoming so popular internationally I myself i’m starting to learn Korean. I would like to learn Korean fluently, we’ll see how far I get lol. Don’t let the haters get to you BTS because you’re more love than hate it by jealousy😀❤️

I'm from the US, and I think BTS does a great job at speaking English. Personally I like listening to them speak in their own language, I have no problem with it. I also LOVE hearing them sing in their own language! I love BTS and always will!!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜.

We all learn at different speed. When learning a new language, some are more apt than others catching on quickly. BTS, as well- known as they are, they are not different than any one when learning English. I don't usually look back on my journey, but look how much progress they have already made on this long journey. Still a long haul ahead, yet they have shown to the world their courage, interest and humility, and they are exemplary in their efforts. Encouraging word is better than hurtful criticism. HATS OFF to them from this ARMY.

No language barriers so long you enjoy. We feel & understand BTS 😍. So what that you speak English, you don't even have a stage to perform, just a bunch of haters keyboard warriors 👎

I think is really smart to learn another language, be it English, Spanish whatever. What’s wrong with wanting to be able to communicate in another language. To me it shows thoughtfulness an appreciation to the people around you and yourself. I’m not saying they have to I’m saying if that’s what they want then so be it. Learning another language is not easy and I give the boys praise for wanting to just that👍🏼💜🤟🏼

Music is international and diverse. I really like BTS 'English songs, but I prefer the Korean ones. The Korean raps in the I'll be missing you cover are a wonderful example of how different languages and cultures can be mixed.

It just so happens that Joon (with an IQ of 148) scored a 900 out of 990 on the TOEIC (test of English for international communications) and can speak 3 languages fluently. He was also, with the rest of BTS, invited to speak at the UN for the third year in a row! I'd like to see these haters do even one of those things! I'd also love to see them try and speak even one short sentence in Korean! Smh 🤦♀️

I love the fact that are learning English but they don't need to unless they want to. I just look at the English translation for their Korean songs, I can probably sing a few of their Korean songs from start to finish but I'll admit that I couldn't have a conversation in Korean. So it doesn't matter what language they sing in, I know alot of English speaking people wanted BTS to do English songs and they have done and now alot of people are hating them for it and I'm actually starting to miss their Korean ones. 💜💜💜

A thorny question........ I believe in knowing at least enough of the language where you're visiting to at least communicate that you need help or basic info. It is true that you can almost always find someone who can speak (a least some) english, but trying to find someone who spoke korean would be quite difficult (depending on where you are!). If you want to talk to people freely, go for it!! If that's not your thing, don't! Kudos to the boys working at it 'cause they want to, not 'cause they have to!!! I can just imagine how I could "slaughter" korean pronounciation being an english speaker myself! But I would still try regardless.... 😊

Even if english is kind of like universal language, it's not a reason for native english speakers to feel superiority above other language's groups . These guys are making a music and not teachers of english. Through the music they give us the best of them and when it comes to languages they do their best as well. Does anyone of haters speak fluently korean language? How many native english speakers speak another languages? Before we start to judge others, we should start with ourselves first . I might not be the army, but I like these guys for their hard work to bring join to others. 💙💙💙💙💙.

I think it's amazing that they want to learn English to communicate with fans. I mean, that is so incredible of them. They are freaking BTS, their music touches us regardless of what language it's in because it IS AMAZING. They are true superstars with humble hearts and always think about ARMY and thank them more than most artists do. It's why we LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!!

So you have to be fluent in English, wow, that leaves out every English speaking person in the world. Music breaks the language barrier, and in this, they are fluent. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I love their songs and more specifically their Korean songs. It is so rich with poetry and has challenged me to acquire another language. Also it's much deeper than sex and romance. The fact that they appeal to such a large age group and across all genders and nationalities is HUGE.

I thought that if our lovely young men want to learn another language then let them. I mean come on! They’re BTS. They do what they think is best for them. I also think that even if you don’t agree with things that the guys say or do that’s fine, but spending hatred towards our Bangtan or spreading hatred towards anyone is wrong. I hope anyone who is experiencing it stay strong. Keep fighting.

The GRANDIOUS songs that BTS sing and perform do not need a "world language", you don't have to understand them with your mind but with the heart, the soul! That is precisely why music itself is the greatest and only real world language that GENIAL artists can convey to you, regardless of the language! And BTS can and does! You are happy when you understand what a role model, an idol is saying, in any case, but if you can't understand the words, you can understand the body language, the facial expressions ...

But yet we can go to a different country and not know that language and they are very kind about it and help us out. But we get one person in USA that can't speak english great and they get critizised... I love these guys so much. Not only for the music, but their stories are incredible and the love for one another is fantastic. Wish I could just be friends with them..

I'm from Belgium, I'm 56 year old and a big fan of BTS. They are doing great on every level. I do appreciate their efforts to learn English. Of course they need to if they want to conquer the western music world. But speaking 3 languages myself I know how difficult it is to learn another language...even more as they have to transition from an asian language to a western language.....I started Korean myself so I know. My advice to BTS is not to let those negative comments get to you....focus on Army and your fans who love you and appreciate all the work you do.
@klara14933 жыл бұрын
Agree with you. I am from Europe , the continent full of many different languages, so I understand not only difficulties and challenges of learning other languages but also importance of languages. However even if I speak or understand more than my native language, it doesn't make me feel superiority above others like native english speakers feel about themselves. So naturally I don't understand all of the criticism. Bts are hard working guys and nothing else matters.

I don't know much Korean words and i have been watching the k drama for 7 years and cannot speak the language. i know a word here and there but i have heard artist from both Korean and china sing and it sound so sweet. and i do not know what they are saying these boys take the time out to learn our language (English)to share their hearts with us and i thank them and i love them all 7 of them for it. they share positivity and love when we were broken and have no positive influence through a pandemic. in there pain they reach out to us i love them for that. if you don't know how to love yourself look in the mirror and reflect on what's wrong with you. and leave the boys alone. they are blessed and a gift from God they are not idols they are artist. you dislike them for what you dislike in you.

Lockdown makes it hard to keep learning a language. It's hard even to stay fluent in languages you already know. I was in lockdown in my town for probably over 6 months before we went back and I was able to converse with Spanish speakers again. I consider I'm pretty fluent in Spanish, but after 6 months of no practice, I was stumbling over my words a lot. It's easy to get rusty in a language if you don't use it for a long period of time.
