aespa (에스파) - Spicy MV Reaction

Everything “aespa-like” in terms of their sound is on the b-sides from the album. I think Spicy was a nice shift away from their normal but it wasn’t too out there. I will say I absolutely love their Bratz doll looks for the era, it really suits them!

honestly loved this track off first listen!! i think as you listen more and more to the song youll start to hear all the nuances in production that make it still have that aespa vibe (that robot-y sound!!) overall i think its my favorite from them yet.. that post-chorus is beautifulll

i'm so die hard for these girls but at first listen spicy definitely left a very weak first impression, but like with pretty much all aespa title tracks i just kinda have to wait until it clicks right in my brain. was grocery shopping while listening to the album and it was there that spicy started clicking right for me, now i'm fully on board with it being the title track 🫡 can't wait to see your reactions to the new b-sides!! sister savage has some new competition 🤭

I love that they went in a different direction for this title track and I do like it. Girls was a bit too same-same so this was nice and fresh. That being said, Salty and Sweet is my fav track on the album and I think I would’ve preferred it as the title tbh. The album itself is really good!

i think it sounds more "normal" because of their lore! they beat black mamba and left kwangya to enter the "real world" so it makes sense that spicy is a bit more normal compared to their other tracks

I personally think this is still aespa-fied. It’s aespa’s take on the summer concept and I hear robots in the instrumentals tbh 💀

I loved spicy on first listen, it's so catchy and reminds me a lot of a sort of updated aespa take on 2nd gen gg sound (mainly fx, nu abo ). Love it, it's so catchy. Re: it sounding more "normal: I read somewhere that because the girls are in a normal, real world setting in the mv, apparently in their lore aespa had travel into the real world and are trying to "blend in" or something, which explains their outfits, the high school setting, and the more catchy/palatable/normal sounding song. There's also moments in the mv (like when they're dancing in front of the pool) that you can see glitching in the background which I guess holds some sort of significance/implies some sort of other dimension ? Disclaimer: I don't know jack shit about the aespa lore, myself, I just listen to the music lol. I just thought that this theory I saw would make sense for the sudden shift in their sound for this title track.

the mini is CRAZY, spicy is good but definitely last place in terms of my favs on the mini. thirsty tho... she changed my life

the savage album only delivered and, dare I say, the my world album delivers even more. But I do think that Spicy was more "normal" than the rest of the title track that Aespa has delivered but I don't hate it, I find it quite addicting.

I was a bit disappointed by this title much like I was with Girls, like yeah I could get why this song would have people listening to it since it has catchy elements but it just feels lackluster after Savage, I think they might’ve dropped that to early in their career 😭
