I am very happy with her. We also bought a VW engine but changed it before we installed it. De BMW performance is great. Why did you stop flying with the KR2?

Its a hotrod and fun to fly. You can do so much more with out fighting trim and a heavy stick. The spam cans are laborous to fly after you get out of a KR.

Well done & congratulations to Steph, your father and Marlies! I've often wondered how you are and about progress with the KR2. We met in 2004 and I camped on your lawn. And I quote from my book, "The Cyclist's Mind Goes Everywhere" on page 24, "It would be a beautiful plane once finished." Best wishes & happy flying! Louis Frouws.

Hi Louis, great to hear from you. Stil cycling and flying your Kr2? When are you again in the dutchies?

@@stephkr2412 Hi Steph. Thanks for your reply! Looking in my Pilot's Flying Log Book, I stopped flying In August 2007, after selling and delivering my KR2 to its new owner. Flying a KR2 is lots of fun and I flew 500+ hours in various KR2s. I still cycle daily, but haven't been to the N-Lands since my bicycle trip in 2004. If you feel adventurous, you can fly here and visit us in your beautiful KR2. Kind regards & best wishes! Louis.

That is one very beautiful stretched KR2S. With the small space available on the instrument panel, having an electronic display for much of the systems and flight information is great.
@stephkr24123 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I am happy and proud with the plane. It flys so very good. The instrument pannel turns out very good. It saves me weight, space and I have all the engine instruments…..the only thing it not saves is your wallet🤭😀
@jayfmiller3 жыл бұрын
I am 113 kg in weight and 185cm tall. I built a second, further stretched KR2S as a very comfortable single occupancy cockpit aircraft with a Subaru EA81, Ross planetary gear PSRU, AirFlow Performance throttle body with twin electric pumps, electronic ignition, a VW Golf radiator, and a 3-blade Warp Drive CF prop with Nickel leading edges. I improved the Pitch to roll harmony by adding NASA sharp LE strakes between the horizontal stab and the fuselage. I had the uncertified wing leveler and course follower connected to my Garmin GPS. I did use the Dan Diel wing skins and conventional gear. I protected the wing tanks against bird strikes by adding CF first then Kevlar to the leading edges of the wings. My instrument panel was crowded because in the early 1990s I had to use standard instruments rather than "glass cockpit" equipment because of the cost. However, I did have electrically driven instruments so I didn't have to rig a vacuum pump on the Subaru or depend on a venturi. I used a recreational vehicle secondary battery system in case the alternator failed. With the prop pitched for climb, the ROC was just under 540 M/min. With the prop pitched for high cruise, the cruise was 183 knots at 5.2 gal per hour burn. I broke the engine in on 100LL then switched to MOGAS and then installed the oxygen exhaust sensor. I sold the aircraft to another big guy after I had my heart attack because it didn't meet the LSA numbers here. I really miss that airplane.

@@jayfmiller hi jay, I missed your massage . Great to hear that you had one. As you have to sell it.😪 I stop at 178kts. I am still a bit affraid with higher speeds. The plane feels great with this speed.

@@stephkr2412 Sounds really really good Steph!!! I avionized myself a BMW 1200rt (k26) engine with a Rotax C gearbox and Fueltech FT350 ECU... I really trust the brand, but was a little undecided to bolt it to my Waiex until i was your build.... There are plenty of BMW conversions on trikes, ultralights and rather slow experimentals.... Seeing it perform in a 150mph beauty like yours with that fuel consumption really make me want to try it out!!! Last questions... what ecu are you running? and...have you got any issues with your clutch?
