I have had the DS61 for about 3 months. It fits in nicely with my other synthesizers. I bought it to replace my old Ensoniq SQ1 Plus built in 1990. It started acting glitchy & I needed something that did organs, pianos, strings, brass & synth lead sounds. It sounds great, has a nice keybed, is laid out intuitively & has a diverse sound set. I love it!

+KALIGHT MUSIC thinking of getting an FA06. What are the main differences (besides the things like the color screen)? Are the sound engines the same? Are both programmable from scratch?
@kalightmusic31709 жыл бұрын
Hey Darryl, The Sound Engines as far as I know are NOT the same. The Juno Sounds very very Cheap. I think it only uses some PCM sounds. The FA has SuperNatural Sounds and the Drum Sets are amazing! When you mean Programmable, explain a little further.
@darrylbrooks62439 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the information. By programming, I mean start from scratch. Choose a waveform on an osc, change filter types, route modulations to places you choose, change envelopes. Or are you only able to modify presets by changing filter cutoffs or resonance and adding effects. I am also looking at a Jupiter 50 which is completely programmable and has both SuperNATUARL synth and acoustic engines on board. Again thanks for your assistance.
@kalightmusic31709 жыл бұрын
Hey Darryl, That I'm not sure about that since I don't use it for the following. With your needs, That Jupiter 50 May be the best way to go! I just know that Juno was NOT it, lol. But no problem!
@Jason759136 жыл бұрын
I looked at an FA in a store, and the synth sounds seem to have all the same parameters as in the Juno. Indeed the FA sounds like a Juno with better sound output circuitry. Or I mised something there. Other features like the sequencer kill the Juno. FA rules indeed.

it's literally impossible to choose a synthesizer nowadays so many different models so many different effects and you're scared to buy one because the day after you buy it casio will come out with some s*** for half price ,so what do you do.
@alicaramba76804 жыл бұрын
You should know what you are calling a synthesizer. Juno DS isn't synthesizer per se, it's sampled instruments player with some capabilities of synthesizer. It is called a "rompler". It has sampled sounds of various instruments, real synthesizers among them. Those sounds like by synthesizer, but in fact is sampled. Real synthesizers do what their name tells - they synthesize new sounds, there are analog, digital and software digital synthesizers. None of them has acoustic sounds like Juno DS. Synthesizers commonly are much more capable of sculpting desired sound than romplers. Also synthesizers by different manufacturers usually sounds distinctively different from each other while you will find romplers sounds more or less the same. On the other hand romplers usually offers much much bigger sound palette, acoustic and drum tones included, and also in more expensive models functions such as full sequencer, sample playback, more effects, higher polyphony are added. Recently a few manufacturers in some models combined rompler and digital synthesizer engines in one keyboard. P. S. Casio currently do not produce synthesizers.
@joe-vz6hx7 жыл бұрын
thanks for this but it would have been a lot more helpful to see workflow, i.e. been shown HOW the DS does this or that a lot more vs just saying it can do it....and I wish we'd heard a lot less electronica/techno garbage and more demo of actual instruments to see how they sound, like horns, woodwind etc

@paolopizzi56038 жыл бұрын
No. But then again AT is not very practical on a weighted keyboard. The lack of AT on the Juno DS-61 is less excusable.
@LaughingSkull4518 жыл бұрын
I've never understood aftertouch. Can someone explain it to me in layman's terms? Lol I always thought it was similar to sustain.
@paolopizzi56038 жыл бұрын
Aftertouch is a MIDI control you activate with extra pressure of your fingers. Just like a mod wheel, it can be assigned to whatever you want (LFO, pitch bend, envelope, whatever...), depending on your synth, of course (most of the old ones don't even respond to AT.) There are two types of AT: channel AT and polyphonic AT. Nowadays, most keyboards with AT only come with the former, which is a lot cheaper to make. Channel AT means that if you extra press one key, AT will be activated for the entire channel. With Poly AT, every key can individually activate AT only for that note.
@вечная_мерзлота8 жыл бұрын
