My pleasure! At the end of the day I'm just a metal fan that has been lucky enough to play with some of my favorite bands of all time. There's so much great metal music out there and some of it never got it's due. Josh Christian, Chris Poland, Gary Holt, Rick Hunolt and Lee Altus are awesome players and writers. They all deserve to have their music notated for guitar players to enjoy! Cheers!

Im on that Exodus anthology part 2. Loved the first one. Hope Impact titletrack is on it. Thats the best gary riff of all time.

Thanks for checking it out David! The Kemper is worth it! The power amp in the powered version is just ok. I recommend getting the version without the power amp and using a tube amp for power. You can use any tube head that has an effects loop for power and it will sound absolutely killer!

How awesome of Chris Poland and Elleffson, hopefully full Megadeth album transcriptions in the future😳! Will Return to Metalopolis include the bonus tracks? I really like this one called Psycho Boy. Can’t wait for the Exodus book with Impact and Force of Habit!

I believe the Chris Poland book will just have the original 10 tracks that appeared on the album. The bonus tracks are killer though!

Hi Kragen. I'm the guy who asked you about using Protoype's songs on my gaming channel a couple months ago (this account). Looking forward to the Prototype stuff in the new book. And I won't even ask about new Prototype songs. I just accepted this will take long, if they'll ever even exist in the future anyway.

Hi Dante! I hope all is well! We actually do have some new Prototype music already and the new band lineup is set. We just need to find time to start working on more material for the next album. Hopefully we can move a little faster in the second half of this year. 🙂

@@protokragen I know it doesn't really fit the style of the band, but what do you think about having at least one song with aggressive vocals in the next album? There's already somewhat like that in the song "Into Oblivion", but only a few sentences. It would be cool, and it's kinda a trend nowadays (although in general I still prefer clean vocals way more).

We'll see what sounds right on the new stuff. I know a lot of people didn't like the death/growl vocals on Catalyst. It's not really what Prototype has been known for so it may have caught people off guard. Regardless, we always follow our instincts and do whatever we think sounds best. I'll be interested to see how things come together for the new Proto material as well!

@@protokragen Right on I’ve been playing the main riff to funeral hymn wrong for years now and it’s about time I get it right! I own two of your exodus tab books and I must say other then a few inconsistencies in some of Gary’s wild lead sections they are incredibly accurate and easy to follow keep up the good work!

@@dellydoe9061 thanks, man. I appreciate the feedback. Some of Gary's leads (especially the whammy stuff) is almost impossible to notate accurately. Feel can't be notated. Essentially we get as close as humanly possible. The Funeral Hymn riff is really unique. There's a video where Gary explains it but it will make more sense when it's on the page so to speak. :)

@@protokragen I hear that I wouldn’t even know where to begin figuring out any of that beautiful whammy nonsense by ear so I can’t complain. I was actually referring to a few licks that I noticed were played elsewhere on the fretboard but the difference in sound is so minuscule it doesn’t even matter and by no means takes away from any of the work you and Evan have done good work, thanks for everything, and keep it up!

Any plans for a full tab book for the Catalyst album? I've always really like Gravity Well and figured out the intro. It's a really underrated album overall.

Thanks, man! I definitely want to do a full tan book for Catalyst in the future. The songs Catalyst, The Chosen Ones, Into Oblivion and Communion are already transcribed. I’ll be working on My Own Deception and Cynic Dreams next.

Not sure about the other Exodus albums just yet. I will definitely be working on books for all of the other Heathen albums. The Evolution of Chaos book is partially done already. I have Dying Season and Control By Chaos done already. Just need to find time to work on these some more. 🤘🏻😃

I wanted to add Beyond the Pale but I don't think it's going to make it. It's really hard to get the song list down to 12 for the book. There are so many good Exodus songs!

does heathen and exodus tune a half step down

One the latest Heathen album, we tune to D Standard. The first 3 albums are all in E Standard. All of the Exodus albums from Tempo of the Damned on are in D Standard. Pleasures of the Flesh, Fabulous Disaster and Impact Is Imminent are in E Standard minus 25 cents on the tuner. Bonded by Blood is the only Exodus album in E Standard.

@@protokragen i always had a question i wanted to ask you how was it to play garys stuff while he was on tour with slayer and i know you and lee are in the same band were u the first person they picked or did u have to try out

It was easy playing on Gary's rig. We all used Kemper amps during that tour and the tone is Gary's modified Marshall JCM800 from the Tempo of the Damned album. It sounded crushing live! The first person to fill in for Gary was actually Rick Hunolt. He did a European tour with the band (with Heathen supporting). Rick has a business and couldn't do it long term so they asked me to fill in starting in 2013. I did one European tour for the Exhibit B album and then most of the touring for Blood In Blood Out after that. I did not audition. I had already playing some songs with the band live to give Lee a break when he was doing double duty. It was an awesome experience and I'm grateful to still be working with the band! :)
