Am I the only one thinking that in a way, it's a shame that beastmen are inextricably tied to Chaos? I feel like that asthetic could have made for a really cool destruction faction. @@nbmoleminer5051 Not really, it’s worth remembering that Beastmen predate AOS and the alliance structure. Yes Beastmen hate civilization but there wasn’t really another faction that hated Civilization besides Chaos, plus Chaos created the Beastmen as a race so they have that loyalty.
@rootsnootthnute85983 жыл бұрын
@@InquisitorThomas The Beastmen are culturally tied to chaos, and it definitely created them, but it did so by corrupting naturally occurring animals, such as humans, livestock, and wild animals. I'd compare them to the Trolls, who were also mutated by the warping powers of chaos from the Ogres created by the Old Ones to fight against chaos. Ogres were meant to be chaos resistant, though they're definitely not totally immune, as evidenced by the various mutant Ogre breeds that exist, like Yhetees, Gorgers, and Trolls/Troggoths, and all three of those mutant Ogre breeds are part of the Destruction grand alliance. Based on that, I wouldn't consider a group of Beastmen that doesn't serve Chaos impossible, but I think they'd have a really hard go of it, the Ogre descendants have only managed because they're actually very pure in their mindset, so chaos can't truly corrupt their weird and tiny little brains, but the Beastmen are very human, so they're just as prone to human emotions as any other servant of chaos. Oddly, the Fimir are also in the Destruction grand alliance, even though they were the original mortal thralls of chaos before humanity came about, maybe they just got over the chaos gods though?

I think it's a bit strange that the supposedly incredibly ancient species that Kragnos belongs to is technically much younger than any of the species from the Old World. I feel like it's just because most people in AoS don't have any idea about where they come from or who they originally were. Fimir, obscure as they are, were truly prehistoric, having civilization before the Old Ones even colonized the planet Warhammer Fantasy took place on, meaning the Fimir predated Elves, Slaan, Lizardmen, Dwarves, Trolls, and everybody else, but so few people even remember there ever was an Old World. It makes me wonder how far in the future AoS really is, there's a few hints that millions of years have passed since the End Times, ironically that info is provided by the one species that definitely doesn't keep records, the Troggoths. The Rockgut troggoth kit has fossils of what look to be the equivalent of precambrian mollusks, and the Dankhold troggoths have had massive stalagmites form on them over their tens of thousands of years of life (Some of those stalagmites have even had human skulls encased in them, including a 4 foot tall stalagmite that would take around 12,000 years to form, confirming the presence of humans in the realms for at least that long.).
@adambielen89963 жыл бұрын
One thing to remember is that everyone that wasn't Lizardmen, Skaven, or part of Archaon's army died in the World that Was. So all the other races that are there now have no direct connection to the races of the World that Was.
@rootsnootthnute85983 жыл бұрын
@@adambielen8996 They might have all died, but the new ones aren't new species made in imitation of the old ones, they're those species reborn, sort of like how lab rat breeds can be completely exterminated, but then brought back by using preserved gametes. Plus, it's very likely that a lot of the people who died have "reincarnated" as new people throughout the ages of the realms, though I doubt many kept their memories. After all, the elves survived in soul form in Slaanesh's belly, and most souls didn't have to deal with such horrors trying to break down their very existence, most of the dead probably just ended up floating through the ether left behind after the world ended.

@@adambielen8996 Oh nice, I haven't read that yet, I'm glad Gotrek's old friends are still getting some acknowledgement, but I really want to find out what happened with Felix, since I only just finished Manslayer. The weird thing I'm running into is the cultures of the factions, they're definitely evolved from the factions of the Old World, to some degree or another. Did they just get spawned as adults by the gods that saved their kind, and then told what their culture was, and they've followed it to the best of their ability? Or did Sigmar and his pals bring some deadies out of retirement in Shyish so they could found their old societies again, and those have experienced some cultural drift that has led to the new factions arising?
@adambielen89963 жыл бұрын
@@rootsnootthnute8598 Most of the races evolved naturally, the exceptions being those made by Teclis, Morathi, and Malerion. As for why there are some that are similar, well when you have hundreds of cultures you will get some that resemble old ones. This is then furthered by the Gods who already have their own way of thinking and influence their mortal worshippers. And no, they did not bring dead people back because Nagash wouldn't allow it. That is until Nagash betrayed everyone. Now Sigmar can and will resurrect the dead as Stormcasts in the Anvils of the Heldenhammer.

The guy is Gorkamorka's chosen representative he is the Archaon to Destruction in much the way Kragnos could be interpreted as a Greater Daemon of Destruction he is to Destruction as Skarbrand is to Chaos. Gordrakk is ultimately an Orruk Demi God literally made from the body of Gorkamorka himself... Just hope he gets another shot at doing something meaningful and doesn't get left to fade into the background without a further mention in this book.

The Draconith and Kragnos's peoples aren't extinct are they? I hope not
@jonathanatkinson3993 жыл бұрын
The draconith or amber dragons seemed to be on their last legs with a handful of survivors or so. That said there are other dragons in the realms like the star drakes and many more so who knows. Mean while the drogrukh, kragnos's people, are truly extinct. Much sad face. But this spread of life magic could, hypothetically speaking, set up the possible return of the Drogrukh. Kragnos probably wants to find out what happened over the millennia and his people. This could bring him to either Ghyran where Alarielle might offer him a deal to bring his people back if he promises to piss off. Alternatively he could go to Shyish and try to find their souls and bring them back that way or worse the gods of chaos try to make a bargain with him where the pledges service to them either temporarily or permanently in exchange for bringing his people back. Either way there really is a lot of cool directions kragnos story could go depending on if he goes full rage monster god of earthquakes or if he chooses to bring back his people and try to be more goal oriented and non selfish.
